In Environmental Science, we will be studying all aspects of the environment, living and non-living, in the
earth and in the atmosphere. We will be studying how these aspects interact and how humans impact
the environment. In Environmental Science we will be listening, thinking, experimenting, reading and
writing.
For your summer assignment for Environmental Science, research on the internet 2 Biomes using at
least 4 sources. Biomes are different areas in the world that are defined by their latitude, climate,
vegetation, geography, and animal life.
Describe each biome including general location on earth, climate, vegetation, geography and
topography, and animal life. Also describe what countries are located within this biome, whether these
countries are developed or developing countries and what are the countrys’ resources. Developed
countries, like the United States, have diverse economies and the people there are generally fairly
weathly and are in mostly good health. A countries resources include energy sources like oil and natural
gas and valuable products like crops or minerals.
This will be due on the first day of class and will count as Project Grade. Project grades are 20% of the
Class Grade.
(15pts)-This is not an opinion piece, this is a factual piece of writing. You should not use “I” or “I think”
or “in my opinion”.
(10pts) -I will be grading for grammar, full sentences, and punctuation. Your writing should make sense
and you should re-read and edit your writing before turning it in.
(5pts)-Cite your sources. Use best website formatting.
The format of the paper should be as follows:
1. Opening Paragraph with a)Topic Sentence, b) Some information about the two biomes you have
researched. +/- 5 sentences—10 Points
2. Body of essayParagraph 1-25 Points- about a Biome: A) Opening sentence-description and name of biome
b) general location on earth/, climate,/ vegetation, /geography /
topography,/ animal life
c) Also describe what countries are located within this biome,/
whether these countries are developed or developing countries
/what are the countrys’ resources.
d) Closing, summary sentence
Paragrapah 2-25 Points-about second Biome:

3. Concluding Paragraph with brief description of the two biomes described and a summary
sentence. +/- 5 sentences.-10 Points
