Learning Outcomes
The student will be able to:
Convert angles between different units of
measure.
Find the trigonometric functions of an angle.
Find the missing sides and angles of a right
triangle.
Determine the angles with a given trig function.
Solve oblique triangles using the law of Sines.
Solve oblique triangles using the law of Cosines.
Solve quadratics by formula.
Apply quadratics to a variety of applications.
Use the laws of exponents to simplify and
combine expressions having integral exponents.
Solve radical equations manually.
Understand importance of radian measure.
Calculate trigonometric functions of an angle
given in radians.
Calculate the areas of sectors and segments.
Use radian measure to calculate arc length,
radius, or central angle.
Identify and determine amplitude, period,
frequency, and phase shift of the sine curve.
Graph a Sine curve.
Convert between polar and rectangular
coordinates.
Set up and solve a proportion for a missing
quantity.
Solve applied problems using proportions or the
constant of proportionality.
Applied problems include: direct variation,
inverse variation, and power function problems.
Find dimensions, areas, and volumes of similar
geometric figures.
Solve applied compound interest, exponential
growth, exponential decay, and exponential
growth to an upper limit problems.
Course Outcomes: At the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
 Solve oblique triangles using the law of Sines.
 Solve oblique triangles using the law of Cosines.
 Solve applied problems using proportions or the constant of proportionality.
 Convert between polar and rectangular coordinates.
