Help your child read the following words each night. Have him/her say each sound to practice the
beginning, middle and ending sounds. Notice and discuss the words with oo, ew, ue, ui and ou sound. See if
he or she can come up with more words.

The information in the story gives us clues about the message in the story. Ask:
1. What did the characters say or do in the story?
2. What message does the author want to give us?
3. What mainly happened in the story?
Math practice:
Practice adding any 3 numbers today, such as, 2 + 6 + 3 = ___
Make up an equation with 3 numbers and have your child write a word problem to go with it. For example,
using the equation above: 2 children slide, 6 children swing and 3 children climb. How many children are on
the playground in all?
