Factor Trees KEY
For each given product, you will create a factor tree that displays all the prime factors of a product.
Begin each tree by listing a pair of factors under the given product. If a factor is a composite number,
list a pair of factors under the composite factor. If the factor is a prime number, circle the factor.
Repeat this process until all the factors are prime numbers. Write a multiplication sentence using the
prime factors to verify the product is correct.
1. The product is 12.
2. The product is 10.
2 x 5 = 10
3 x 2 x 2 = 12
3. The product is 18.
4. The product is 15.
3 x 5 = 15
3 x 2 x 3 = 18
5. The product is 9.
6. The product is 8.
3x3=9
2x2x2=8

Repeat this process until all the factors are prime numbers. Write a multiplication sentence using the

7. The product is 24.
8. The product is 20.
5 x 2 x 2 = 20
3 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 24
9. The product is 21.
10. The product is 16.
3 x 7 = 21
2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 16
12. The product is 25.
11. The product is 11.
Note: Since 11 is already a prime number, the
only prime factor is 11. 1 is written to show the
factor pair for 11.
1 x 11 = 11
