Chlorophyll is similar to haemoglobin in human blood
Chlorophyll's molecular structure is similar to the
haemoglobin of human blood. Haemoglobin is our
body's oxygen transporter.
A German chemist, Dr Richard Wilsstatter, determined
in 1913 that the two molecules closely resemble on
another. He found that haemoglobin is composed of
four elements - carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen
- organized around a single atom of iron.
Haemoglobin's iron content is the main reason we
Chlorophyll has the same elements, however they are
organized around a single atom of magnesium.
By taking chlorophyll into our bodies, we elevate the
integrity of haemoglobin in our blood and that
translates into improved energy, circulation and
oxygenation.

Year 7 follow the Longman Exploring Science
scheme of learning produced by Pearson
Year 7 lessons are following an introductory
scheme of work, focusing on skills and safety.
Topics include:
Allocated to sets based on different data from
October 10th
The groupings are related to “standard expected
progression” at the end of year 9.
Pupils are therefore set targets
Pupils will be expected to work towards
achieving these at the end of KS3 program of
study which for Science is currently Christmas of
year 9, in January of year 9 pupils being their
GCSE course.
Each of the topics are assessed using
Tests using a variety of question types
Extended writing questions – 6 marks
Core Practical Skills Assessment - relating scientific
investigation; eg planning, analysis, research etc.
3 main assessments are scheduled for progress
checking purposes across the year.
These assessments and their teacher’s input
allows us to group appropriately when pupils
move into year 8.
A relevant task set once a week
Expected to require about 30 minutes
Where classes have 2 teachers this should be
alternate weeks from each teacher.

Child in Science is to encourage their interest.

A protein, all proteins contain Carbon, Hydrogen,
Oxygen and Nitrogen (and some contain sulphur).
Proteins are digested and broken down into amino
acids before being absorbed into the blood stream.
Chlorophyll is essential for Photosynthesis which
releases Oxygen as a by product in light.
Chlorophyll has the same elements, however they are
organized around a single atom of magnesium.
