District Governor Janet “Jan” Livingston Jan is a Native Texan, born in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA, and completed Graduate Certification from the University of Dallas in Telecommunications Management. She retired after more than 31 years with AT&T in various Management positions in Customer Service, Technical Support, and Marketing. Since retirement, Jan has studied metal working and glass art with many local and international instructors. She is a Member of three local Artisan Guilds, and one International Guild. Her artisan crafted items are marketed at shows and online. A Rotarian since 2001, Jan is a member of the Rotary Club of San Antonio‐South and served the club as president in 2003‐2004. She has served District 5840 as a member of the District Governor Nominating Committee and a GSE Team Leader Alternate. For the 2005 Rotary International Centennial Convention, she served as District Chair for the District 5840 Delegates to Chicago, Ill. From 2005‐2008, Jan served as Assistant Governor for seven Rotary Clubs. Since 2009, Jan has been a “Ranger” at Lone Star PETS, and also served as a Ranger at the Tejas Multi‐District Conference in San Antonio in May 2010. In November 2011, she attended the District Resource Leadership Training Program for Zone 21b and 27, and in addition to training, assisted the Staff as a Sergeant at Arms. Jan is a Faculty Member of the Rotary Leadership Institute, Lone Star Division and is a Facilitator for District 5840. Jan served two years as District Community Service Chair, with special focus on SA Reads, a collaborative literacy project that Rotary has committed to support. She also served as a Reading Volunteer for at‐risk students in a local elementary school. In January 2012, she served as the Volunteer Coordinator for the ABC television program “Extreme Makeover Home Edition” which brought together over 3,500 volunteers in the South Texas Region to build a home for a local Wounded Warrior and his family. This project involved many Rotarians, local non‐profit organizations, and volunteers to build a home, working 24 hours a day over seven days to completion. Jan is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and a Member of the Bequest Society. She is also a District 5840 Paul Harris Society Member. Her sister, Judy Livingston, is a Member of the Fredericksburg Rotary Club. Jan is single, with one son Preston, wife Amber and granddaughter Zoe who live in Houston.
