Cell Metaphor Practice
Definition of a metaphor:
Metaphor is a form of figurative language that can be used as a literary technique.
A metaphor is a way to compare two different things to make an interesting connection
in the reader's mind.
You and a partner will work together to create a metaphor for each of the cell organelles
that we are studying. Each metaphor has to make sense based on the job that the organelle does. They also must be written in a sentence and do not use the word like!
Although working with a partner each person must fill out a worksheet. Once worksheet
is done pick one metaphor to illustrate and make a mini-poster of your metaphor. Must
be different from your partner’s and one per person please. Final product should be in
ink and include your name and class.
An example of a cell organelle metaphor:
Name: Golgi Complex
Job: Sorts and packs proteins for the cell to use
Metaphor: The Golgi Complex is the post office of the cell because it sorts and delivers
the proteins a cell needs.
