CLASS NOTES:
Power Point lectures will be presented on a regular basis. It is the students’ responsibility to take notes when
they are presented and to get class notes from a classmate or the teacher when absent.
VOCABULARY:
All major units will have vocabulary that will be assigned. It’s important that you define and give the significance
of your terms, ex. demonstrate how that term/ person relates to the topic.
TESTS:
Social Studies testing days are Tuesdays and Thursdays unless otherwise indicated. This is to help alleviate test
overload on certain days. You calendar will always indicate which days your tests will be on. A major test
constitutes a scantron portion and a written component. A minor test is typically either all scantron or all written
(DBQ).
MAKEUP WORK:
Makeup work is the responsibility of the student.
1. Tests can be made up before school or during your block lunch. You must make an appointment with
your teacher, and remember a pass is required for morning makeups.
2. Access links on the http://tinyurl.com/jhsworldhistory website if you are absent. Links are provided for
calendars, project instruction, homework assignments, and course information.
TUTORING:
Tutoring can be scheduled by request before school or during your teachers designated block lunch tutorial time.
Test tutorials are scheduled prior to every test. A teacher pass is required for morning tutorials. Tutoring is
based on a questions and answer format – no reteaching will be done unless related to specific student
questions. Come to tutorials prepared to ask questions & to gain a clearer understanding of the information
covered in class.
