Orthodontic Bone Anchor (OBA). Temporary anchorage devices for the
orthodontic movement of teeth.
Synthes is an established leader in the medical device
industry. We have developed, produced and marketed
orthopaedic implants since the 1970s. Our goal is to
provide high quality, constant innovation and a complete
focus on the needs of our customers, by continuously
developing better solutions. One such solution is to
eliminate unwanted molar movement with orthodontic
treatment by providing skeletal anchorage as an alternative
to traditional molar anchorage. Synthes has incorporated
years of implant innovations into the design of the OBA
Screw and Plate Anchors.
The Orthodontic Bone Anchor (OBA) System allows more
predictable tooth movement in orthodontic applications,
by providing skeletal anchorage with screw anchors and
plate anchors.

Plate Anchors
Synthes plate anchors allow placement
away from tooth roots and can be
contoured and/or trimmed to conform
to patient anatomy. Three versatile
plate anchor designs provide orthodontists with flexibility in treatment. Plate
anchors are available in 4- and 5-hole
configurations. A minimum of three (3)
plate anchor screws are recommended
to secure the plate.
Mesh: Brackets can be adhered to
the mesh pad using UV-cure adhesive.
4-hole mesh plate anchor
4-hole bracket plate anchor
4-hole domed plate anchor
5-hole mesh plate anchor
5-hole bracket plate anchor
5-hole domed plate anchor
Bracket: Simulates an orthodontic
bracket and allows attachment of
various orthodontic appliances.
Domed: Allows attachment of
archwires in three vectors, or
attachment of elastics or springs.
