Master degree in cellular and molecular biology with a thesis entitled: “Effects of RB posttranscriptional silencing on the expression of centromeric proteins in HCT116 cells”
This work has been carried out at the university of Palermo in the department of molecular
genetic. Aim of the study was to evaluate in wild type HCT116 cell line if pRb acute loss could
affect expression of genes involved in correct kinetochore functioning and to investigate the
presence of genomic instability in pRb depleted cells after pRb expression was restored.

FROM November 2010 to 15 April 2011
UNIPHARMA-GRADUATES 6 Project: Leonardo da Vinci training at Parc
Cìentific de Barcelona, Barcelona (Spain)
Under the guide of a senior post-doctoral fellow I worked in order to identify proteins involved in
heterochromatin formation by means of a two-step genomewide screen in the fission yeast. In
this way l had the opportunity to get familiar with the widely used fission yeast model and I learnt
various techniques of molecular biology and biochemistry.
FROM September 2011 to date
University of Dundee, College of Life Science: PhD fellowship founded by CRUK
