Kingswood High School Course Name: PDHPE 29/06/2016 Date Issued: Student Name: 10/08/2016 Date Due: Term3 Week 3 Task Name Task Weight Time to complete task: Body In Motion – Video Analysis Task 15% 4 Weeks The following course outcomes will be assessed: P7- Explains how body structures influence the way the body moves P8 - Describes the components of physical fitness and explains how they are monitored P9 - Describes biomechanical factors that influence the efficiency of the body in motion P17 - Analyses factors influencing movement and patterns of participation You need to do the following to complete this task: View a video of two skills (relating to ): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7pyXTUb8A8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXcyDux8E7o The videos may be viewed a number of times. During the performance, record key points related to analysing the body in motion. For example, note the muscles used the joints and their actions, the components of fitness, and the biomechanical principles which apply. Answer the following questions: Part A: Discuss the major bones, muscles, joints and joint actions involved and how they influence the way the body moves whilst running in rugby league and bowling in cricket. (10 Marks) Part B: Outline the physical fitness (Skill and Health) related components to optimise both performances. Select two fitness components for each movement and describe a fitness test for each (discuss how the test is measured and how the results of the test can be interpreted). (8 Marks) Part C: Analyse the Biomechanical principles that apply to Fast Bowling. (ie. principles of motion, balance and stability, fluid mechanics and force) An ALARM Template must be completed and will be allocated 2 marks) . (14 Marks) Total: 32 Marks -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Course: Date Due: __/ __ /__ Date Received: __/ __ /___ Task Name: Received by: Signature: Marking Scheme Part A CRITERIA Identifies all major skeletal and muscle groups from the lower and upper body relating to the skill, Clearly states which joints are involved with the movement action. (Eg. Elbow – Hinge Joint is involved in arm wrestling) Discusses muscle actions used in the movement (Eg. Flexion is used in arm wrestling). Draws upon these actions to discuss how the movement is created and how the body moves efficiently. Using examples. Identifies most muscle groups. Discusses some/all skeletal/Muscle groups relating to the action. Is able to identify most of the joints involved in the action and the types of muscular actions used. Is able discuss as to how these action(s) help the movement to be efficient. Identifies some skeletal/muscle groups and is able to include some muscular actions and joints involved in the movement. Draws some conclusions relating to how these action assist the movement. Identifies a limited range of muscles and bones involved in the movement and or joints and joint actions. May include a discussion about movement without directly relating joints/muscle actions to the nature of the movement. Only identifies one or two muscles/bones/joints and joint actions without discussing how they assist the movement. Makes some reference to bones, muscles and joint actions in relation to movement. Part B CRITERIA Identify all the health and skill related components of the movement. Is able to select two fitness tests that properly assess the fitness components and how they are measured. Is able to interpret a range (good and poor) test results. Identifies most of the health and skill related components. Select two fitness tests that relate to the movement and shows an understanding of interpreting their results and measurement procedures. Identifies some of the Health and fitness related components. Identifies only one fitness test that is appropriate to the movement with an interpretation of how the test is conducted or identifies two fitness tests without appropriately understanding testing protocols. Identifies two or three aspects of the question without giving detail and explanation and or not addressing how the muscular actions/joints relate to movement efficiency. Identifies only one or two aspects of the question without relating anatomical information to the efficiency of the movement. MARKS 10-9 Marks 8-7 Marks 5-6 Marks 3-4 Marks 2 Marks 1 Mark MARKS 8 Marks 7 Marks 5-6 Marks 3-4 Marks 1-2 Marks Part C ALARM Template Criteria Discusses and Analyses the Biomechanical principles that apply to the 100m Hurdles Identifies and describes the Biomechanical principles that apply to the 100m Hurdles CRITERIA Thoroughly analyse principles involved in motion, force, fluid mechanics and balance associated with the efficiency of the skill. Uses a broad range of examples and is able to apply correct terms and application of principles to the movement. Analyses a good range of principles involved in motion, force, fluid mechanics and balance associated with the efficiency of the skill. Is able to apply correct terms and application of principles to the movement. Correctly identifies some biomechanical principles and applies some of these principles to movement proficiency. Is able to use some correct terminology. Identifies or addresses two biomechanical areas relating to the skill without effectively relating these principles to the movement. Shows a limited understanding of biomechanical principles without relating the principles to the movement. Makes some reference to biomechanical principles without relating them to the movement. Marks 2 1 MARKS 11-12 Marks 9-10 Marks 7-8 Marks 5-6 Marks 3-4 Marks 1-2 Marks Teacher Feedback Still to be achieved Limited Basic Sound High COURSE OUTCOMES Outstanding Level of Achievement Explains how body structures influence the way the body moves. Describes the components of physical fitness and explains how they are monitored. Describes biomechanical factors that influence the efficiency of the body in motion. Analyses factors influencing movement and patterns of participation.
