A prime number is a number greater than one that has
only two factors, itself and 1.
A composite number has more than two factors.
The factors of 13 are 1 and 13. 13 is a prime number.
The factors of 15 are 1, 3, 5, and 15. 15 is a composite number.
More Examples
You can make a factor tree to find the prime factors of a number.
Find the prime factors of 24.

To start factoring, divide by 2 as
many times as possible.
