C HUSITA [email protected] InAsiacenter,wehavesomeprojectsfocusingonapplicationofRobustDecisionSupportframework byusingWEAPforwaterresourcesmanagement.Widerangeofuncertainties,bothclimaticandnonclimaticfactors,thathaveimpactsonwaterallocationandwaterresourcesmanagementareexplored andintegratedintowaterresourcesplanning. 9. R ASMUSL [email protected] ExaminingthecorporateresponsibilitycommitmentsofSwedishindustriesoperatingonSamilands (windpower,hydropower,railandroads,forestry,mining).Thestudywouldincludedesktopreview ofcorporatepolicies,analysisofhowtheymatchwithinternationalandnationalexpectations,anda comparisonbetweensectors.Itmayalsoincludeacasestudyofaspecificindustry/project,basedon thestudent’sinterest.Itformspartoftheproject‘Contestedlandscapes’,fundedbytheSwedishEPA, focusingonwaystoimprovegovernanceofcumulativeimpactsofdevelopmentprojectsonSami reindeerherding.Thestudentisexpectedtohavesomebackgroundinsocialscience,development studies,managementstudiesorsimilar.Swedishspeakingstudentsonly. 10. Y LVAR [email protected] ThemasterstudentwillcontributetoaprojectcalledWaterRain-Him:ChangesinWaterResources andAdaptationoptionsintheIndian-Himalayanbasins.Inthisproject,wewillevaluatetheimpactsof climateandenvironmentalchange(i.e.landuseandpopulation)onthewaterstorageandfluxesin theIndianHimalayan-fedbasins,andadaptationstrategiestodriveplanningforappropriate(i.e. holisticandefficient)waterresourcesmanagementforfoodsecurityandpovertyalleviation. Proposedresearchquestions:Whataretheend-userneedsintheregion?Howarefuturemodelbasedprojectionsofclimateandenvironmentalchangeimpactsonwaterflowsbestpresentedto end-userstomeettheseneeds?Whatareadaptationstrategiesthataremostusefulforend-users andthesectors“agriculture”,“industry”and“hydropower”?Thethesisshouldpreferablyexplore thoseadaptationoptionstoclimateandenvironmentalchangethataremostsuitableforallkeyendusersandsectors.Moreover,thethesisshouldreflectonhowmodelscanbemademoreusefulto end-usersthroughtheirearlyinvolvementinthedevelopmentofmodellingcasestudies. Wearelookingforastudentwhowouldbeinterestedtoalsoassistintheorganizationandrunningof theworkshop.Thestudyisdesk-basedbuttherearetravelfundsavailableforthestudenttocome withtotheworkshopinIndia.Thestudentshouldbeinterestedinthetopic,independentandeager toorganizingtheworkshop. 11. B JÖRNN [email protected] AssessingenergysystemdevelopmentsneededforelectrificationofheavyvehiclesinSweden ThisMScprojectfocusonassessingemergingcombinationsofdrive-trainsolutions,marketsand manufacturersofelectricbusses,mediumandheavyfreightvehicles,andotherheavydutyvehicles. Factorssuchascosts,batterytechnology,range,sizeofmarketbutalsotypeofactors,neworold industrywillbereviewedandhowthesedevelopmentsinfluenceSwedenassessed.Theworkwilllook athybridsolutions,purebatteryelectricsolutions,andconductive/inductivesolutionsalongroadsto characteriseinordertothecriticaldevelopmentsneededinordertomaketheroadtransportsystem carbonneutralin2050withelectrificationasakeystrategy.Criticalquestionsarewhatbatterycosts andperformanceisneededinordertoelectrifymediumandheavytrucks?Whatcombinationof infrastructuredevelopmentssuchascharging,batteryswapping,andin-roadchargingwouldbe possiblesolutionsunderdifferentbatterydevelopments? Theworkcouldinvolvemoreelaboratequantitateenergysystemmodellingormoreinterdisciplinary researchandsimplercalculationsofenablingconditionsfordifferenttypesvehiclesanddrivetrains dependingonthestudent.Otherquestionsandavenuesorresearchthatcouldbeexploredarehow automatedvehiclesandcharging(stationaryandoralongroads)changetheprospectsof electrificationofheavyvehicles? 12. T IMS [email protected] Assessmentoftransferanduptakeofclimatechangemitigationpoliciesinemergingeconomies Thisassignmentexploresthemechanismsforthetransferandexchangeofclimatechangemitigation policyinstrumentsbetweentheEuropeanUnionandemergingeconomiesinsupportofenergysector investment.TheMScstudentwillbebasedpart-timeattheStockholmEnvironmentInstitute(upto3 daysperweek)andundertaketwodistinctbutrelatedtasks:1.Identifyandexploreaspecificcase studyofpolicytransferandenergysectorinvestmentinanemergingeconomyinSoutheastAsia;and 2.ContributetothedesignandorganisationofaninterdisciplinaryworkshopinStockholmonclimate changemitigationpolicyandpractice.Researchquestionsassociatedwiththisassignmentinclude: whatistherelationshipbetweenclimatechangemitigationpolicy,marketcreationandenergysector investment?Whatarethemeansandconditionsbywhichclimatechangemitigationpolicytransfer andexchangeoccurs?Whatarethelimitationsofpolicytransferandexchange,takingintoaccount differingcontextsbetweencountries?Theassignmentwillbenefitfromresearchundertakenbya previousKTHMScstudentexploringsimilarresearchquestionsinthecontextofLatinAmerica. 13.
