Informatics Interest Group End is to improve care. Health Informatics is not an end in itself! Group Goal The goal of this project is to form an Informatics interest group that will be primarily concerned with discussion, education and mutual support to: ¾ Bring together healthcare professionals , medical researchers and educators and information professionals ¾ Focus on Health Informatics as a tool to improve the effectiveness of Health professionals ¾ Focus on the relevance of health informatics to improve care of individual patients and groups of patients ¾ Promotion of research and development of health and medical informatics in healthcare, education and related industrial sectors ¾ Discuss Information systems that are in use or a requirement for medical/health ¾ System analysis, design, management and implementation especially in field of medicine and medical education ¾ Dissemination and exchange of information and ideas Group Objective The group objective will be to find ways of application of information science principles, information technology, and communication to medical science and health care with a focus on improving care. Operational Goals and Means For Their Achievement The expected operational goals for the group are: ¾ Explore the scope of medical/health informatics ¾ Develop and asses methods and systems for the acquisition, processing and interpretation of data related to medicine and health care ¾ Support digitizing information where possible to increase quality and effectiveness and reduce overall costs of health care and medical education ¾ Evaluate the needs and problems of developing and managing information systems in the related areas ¾ Improve quality and effectiveness of various processes and services provided by health and medical institutes ¾ Keep themselves informed about the current and discrete development in the area of informatics Informatics Interest Group Systems of Interest (Scope of Informatics Group Discussions): Health ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ Measurement to improve quality and safety of Health Care Electronic Health Record (EHR) Simulation as a tool for management in health care Primary Care Practices Hospital and Regions Diagnostic Imaging Image Processing Scheduling (clinical as well other) Laboratory Results Pharmacy Education ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ ¾ Curriculum Management System Simulation as a Tool for Education Clinical Learning E-libraries Evaluations Executive/Management ¾ Balanced Score Boarding ¾ Planning and Operations Management ¾ Standards – Hardware, Software and Project Management Measure of success As a result of the group activity, information dissemination activities, and service evaluation by health, medical and informatics professionals/experts, the group will contribute to a better understanding of the response to the service and show directions for future developments to the related communities.
