The slope is -13/2, or -6.5
Find the slope of the line 3x - 5y = 15. What is the y-intercept?
For an equation in ax + by = c format, the slope is equal to -a/b
Slope = -(3/-5) = 3/5
Find the solution of the system: y= 3x+4 over 3x +y= 10
y = 3x + 4
3x + y = 10
Substitute 3x + 4 in place of y in the second equation to get:
3x + (3x + 4) = 10
6x + 4 = 10
6x = 10 – 4
6x = 6
x=1
Now substitute this into the first equation and solve for y:
y = 3x + 4
y = 3(1) + 4
y=3+4
y=7
The solution is x = 1, y = 7. As an ordered pair, the solution is (1, 7)
Solve: 2x - 3y = 5 over 6x - y9 = 10
2x – 3y = 5
6x – 9y = 10
Multiply the first equation by 3 to get the following system:
6x – 9y = 15
6x – 9y = 10
Since the left side of these two equations are the same, but the right sides are
different, there is no solution to this system. The expression “6x – 9y” cannot
be equal to 15 and 10 simultaneously for any value of x and y.
There is no solution.
Graph the following data using a circle graph. Show the percentage of the whole.
Company Expenses
Rent $2,500
Personnel $12,000
Advertising $7,500
Office Supplies $1,200
Utilities $950
The total amount of the expenses is 24,150.
The percentages are:
Rent
Personnel
Advertising
Office Supplies
Utilities
2,500 / 24,150 = 10.35%
12,000 / 24,150 = 49.69%
7,500 / 24,150 = 31.06%
1,200 / 24,150 = 4.97%
950 / 24,150 = 3.93%
The graph looks like this:
1200, 5% 950, 4% 2500, 10% Rent Personnel 7500, 31% Advertising 12000, 50% Of<ice Supplies Utilities Find the distance between the points (3, -5) and (-4, -6).
