1-Programme Aims
-The postgraduate student of master degree must be professional and skillfull in the
field of orthodontia: diagnosis, treatment planner and practicing orthodontic treatment
in the field.
- To prepare students for a career as an orthodontist in clinical practice and/or
academics.
- To allow individuals to obtain substantial experience in clinical care, teaching and
research.
- To fulfill the educational requirements for specialty certification by the American
Board of Orthodontic

C-Professional and Practical Skills
Students gain experience in the treatment of patients with all types of dentofacial
deformities. A broad mastery of alternative techniques with different variations of the
Edgewise and different techniques appliance is emphasized, along with modern forms of
removable appliances. Treatment is provided for adults, adolescents, and children.
Students also provide orthodontic treatment in complex rehabilitation cases in
coordination with graduate students in prosthodontics, periodontics, endodontics, and
pediatric dentistry. Surgical orthognathic cases are treated in conjunction with oral and
maxillofacial surgery residents at the Faculty of Dentistry- Suez Canal University.

Second part Courses:
6-Programme Admission Requirements
1. All applicants must hold Bachelor’s Degree of Dental Medicine and Surgery with at
least grade Good, and must give evidence of high scholastic achievement in
Orthodontic course determined on the grade obtained. Good is the minimal
required scores.
2. Applications to the programs of Master Degree must be made through the
Postdoctoral Application Support Service. The application deadlines during
September.
3. Faculty council put certain principals for selecting postgraduate students
7-Regulations for progression and program completion
Student must fulfill requirements required for completion of the program. Students must
attend at least 75% of practical/ clinical sessions of each course. Students who fail to
meet this minimal percent of attendance may be prevented from attending exam in this
specific course based on department council recommendation and decision of faculty
council. To progress to the second part, student must pass in all the courses of the first
part. The first part exam is hold twice per year; in April and November. Also, the second
part exam is hold twice per year; April and November. The student has three chances for
passing the first part exam.
In the evaluation of postgraduate student performance, the following letter grades are
used:
Excellent
≥ 85%
Very good
≥ 75% - less than 85%
Good
≥ 65% - less than 75%
Fair
≥ 60% - less than 65%

In order for a student to pass in a course, his grades should be above the
percent for passing provided that he gets at least 60% of the total exam
grades. A course in which a grade of less than 60% is received must be
repeated at the discretion of the department. The grade in the repeated
course, whether it is higher or lower than the original grade, replaces the
original grade with grade fair 60%.

All failing and incomplete grades must be removed before a certificate is
conferred. Further, students must demonstrate clinical competency in all
areas of patient management and treatment. Any student who fails to meet
these academic standards in a given semester may not be permitted to pass
the exam.

A student who is absence in the exam with acceptable excuse is awarded
the grade earned in the reset exam.

8-Programme Admission Requirements
Student must award Master Degree of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from accepted
University.
The student must obtain the agreement of his job authority to fulfill the degree. Also, he
must have an acceptance from his job authority to be full time attendance in the faculty.
9-Regulations for progression and program completion
Student must fulfill requirements required for completion of the program. He must
prepare a thesis provide that add new vision in the field of research of Oral &
Maxillofacial surgery. The student must be ready for presenting his thesis after two
years. He must participate in a research project, suitable for presentation at the Faculty
Conference and eventual publication. The exam is hold twice per year; in April and
November. Student must counterclaim with a request to Oral & Maxillofacial
department at least two months before the date of the exam; to have an acceptance.
Students must pass in all the courses. In order that a student passes in a course, his
grades should be at least 60% of the total exam grades.
