Spelling Tic-Tac-Toe
This board includes many different activities to help your child practice her/her spelling words. Your child must
choose at least three of the activities to complete for weekly homework. The activities must make a tic-tac-toe
line: horizontal, vertical, or diagonal three in a row. Please mark your choices with crayon, marker, etc. Parents
you are encouraged to assist your child as needed to make homework a positive learning experience. This sheet
should be turned in by due date with parent signature indicating the completion of the activities marked by your
child. Have Fun!
Three Times
Write your words three
times each in your very best
handwriting.
Colorful Vowels
Write the word in pencil. Then
trace over the vowels with a
crayon or marker.
Phone Code
Write your words, then translate
them into numbers from a
telephone keypad. ^

ABC Order
Write your spelling words in ABC
order.
Eraser Writing
Shade your paper with a pencil.
Use an eraser to erase your
spelling words into the shaded
part of your paper.
Spelling Memory
Write your spelling words on index
cards. Make two cards for each
word. Place the cards face down.
Draw to cards at a time. When you
find a match, spell the word out
loud.

Word Map
Create a Word Map for each word.
Write the spelling word in the
center. Web off of it in a variety of
ways. Rhyme, synonym, antonym,
picture, and sentence.
Wacky Words
Use textured materials to spell
your words. Trace them on
sandpaper, write them in shaving
cream, spell them with Alphabits
cereal or invent your own wacky
way to practice your spelling
words.
