FX TOOLS
FX Tools is a Windows-based software package for engineering, selecting, configuring,
downloading, and commissioning HVAC and refrigeration applications for the Facility
Explorer field controllers, master controllers,
and master displays. Two versions are available:
FX Tools Pro and FX Tools Express.
FX Builder
FX Builder is the fully programmable, application
development tool and is included in the FX Tools
Pro suite. It provides a user friendly, object oriented,
graphical means of programming and configuring
control applications, including:
• Selection of the target device
• Assignment of inputs and outputs
• Creation of control logic and sequences of operation
• Setup of schedules, alarms, events, and trends
• Format and navigation of the user interface
• Design of the web page
• Configuration of communication services
• Definition of the network profile
FX Builder provides full programmability. It features
a comprehensive and well-documented library of
control objects that are ideally suited for HVAC and
refrigeration applications including:
• On/off controller
• PID controller
• Programmable Logic Controller
• Logic/math objects
• Psychometric object
FX TOOLS
FX Builder incorporates several features that help save
application development time. Sections of application
code can be saved, allowing developers to create their
own frequently-used assemblies and re-use them on
future projects with similar control requirements. Also,
once an application has been developed and completed,
FX Builder automatically exports the N2 and LonWorks®
network resource files, and it creates a wiring diagram
which shows the external electrical connections needed
to be made to the controller in the field.
FX CommPro
FX CommPro is the tool used for downloading and
commissioning Facility Explorer field controllers. FX
CommPro is included in both FX Tools Pro and FX Tools
Express. FX CommPro can connect to Facility Explorer
field devices either via N2 or LonWorks and provides
the following online functions:
• Downloading control applications
• Read/write of device status
• Read/write network variables
FX Builder Express
• Read/write of configuration properties
FX Builder Express is an application selector and
configuration tool included in both FX Tools Pro and FX
Tools Express software suites. It includes a library of
frequently-used control applications developed specifically
for Facility Explorer field controllers. FX Builder Express
also includes graphical plug-ins for each standard
control application, allowing the user to easily configure
them to specific control requirements.
• Modifying, saving, and re-using configuration properties
The plug-ins are designed to assist the user in the
proper configuration of the application, by
• Providing a link to the application documentation
• Reading device specific data
FX Loader
FX Loader is a simple and straightforward tool used to
download control applications to Facility Explorer field
controllers. FX Loader is included in FX Tools Pro. FX
Loader can connect to Facility Explorer field devices either
via N2 or LonWorks. In addition to downloading control
applications, FX Loader can also be used to download
firmware updates to Facility Explorer field controllers.
