WorkLife Programs
In 1984, DuPont introduced child care at its headquarters in Wilmington, Del. Since
then, the company has expanded its committment to supporting its employee families
through WorkLife Programs that help balance the demands of home and job. The variety
of WorkLife programs are designed to help integrate work life and home life, whether
raising children or caring for a parent. These programs can help alleviate some of the
strain and stress that accompany such responsibilities. Initially introduced in the United
States, the WorkLife Programs are now being introduced to other regions, beginning with
Europe.
Child & Dependent Care
§
Depe ndent Care Spending Accounts
These accounts enable employees to pay for child care expenses with pre-tax
dollars.
§
Child & Dependent Care Related to Business Travel
Incremental dependent care expenses are reimburseable for employees who have
business travel away from home for one or more nights.
§
Backup Care
This emergency/backup service links employees to a variety of dependent care
options when an employee can’t miss a day at work due to their regular child care
or dependent care arrangements falling through. One call can solve the problem
with reliable, affordable backup care.
Flex-time & Leave of Absence
§
Flexible Work Practices
When personal obligations don’t allow employees to work a full- time schedule, a
variety of options are available including part-time work, job sharing, flextime,
flexplace, a compressed workweek, and sabbaticals.
§
Family Leave
Family Leave is available to all full-time employees when new responsibilities
within their family require time off—have a baby, adopt a child, foster child
placement, care of a seriously ill parent, spouse or child
Adoption
§
Adoption Assistance
When U.S. employees are adopting a first child or adding siblings to their family,
eligible, full-service employees may receive up to $3,000 to help defray the
expenses associated with legally adopting a child.
§
Paid Adoption Leave
The weeks following an adoption can be filled with visits to the pediatrician,
having medical tests performed, shopping for supplies and finding child care. To
ease the burden for parents, DuPont offers up to four weeks of paid leave for the
primary caregiver.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The DuPont EAP is a professional counseling and referral service designee to provide
assistance for a broad range of personal and organization problems. It was created to help
you and your family with problems like: marital/relationship issues, stress or anxiety,
child/parent conflicts, grief or loss, financial or legal difficulties, sadness, loneliness or
depression, alcohol and/or drug abuse, work conflicts/concerns, family problems, eating
disorders, and emotional distress.

WorkLife Committees
WorkLife Committees are made up of employees located at DuPont sites. The
committees offer ongoing events and activities designed to support employees in their
work and personal life. The committees also play a key role in helping our WorkLife
teams develop policies and strategies and are an excellent source for benchmarking
practices.
