News Release For Immediate Release Youth Education on Stage to Present “Mulan the Musical” Youth Education on Stage will present its final production of the 29th season July 16-18. The musical "Disney's MULAN Jr.” can be seen nightly at 7 p.m. at the Old Armory Theatre located at 320 1st Ave E. in Williston. Youth Education On Stage (YES) is a summer youth theatre in founded by Jack Dyville and B. Michael Quale in 1984 for the purpose of giving students a chance to learn Theatre first-hand. The group presents some of the finest musicals. American State Bank and Trust is pleased to be the Show Sponsor. Tickets are available at the door. Due to heavy road construction spectators may have to park several blocks away. The production is based on the 1998 Disney film "Mulan" and the story "Fa Mulan." Some of the musical hits include: "Reflection", "I'll Make a Man out of You," "Written In Stone," "Honor to Us All," and the comical "A Girl Worth Fighting For." The YES production is directed and staged by Jack Dyville. The following are also involved in the musical: Tara Hoggarth, musical direction/pianist; Chad Askim, percussionist; Sarah Christianson and Serena Christianson, dance choreography; Dr. Chase Theige, martial arts; B. Michael Quale, costumes and sets; Kevin Duttenhefner and Eddie Wold, art work; David Gillam Fuller, assistant directorstage manager and Vivian Kalmik, business manager. The lead characters of Mulan and Mushu are played by Paige Wold and Hayden Kemp respectively. In the story, the Fa Family Ancestors, Renae Evenson (Honor), Linda Dietz (Love), Ashley Fagerland (Loyalty), Vanessa Horack (Destiny) and Monique Lucero (Strength) take us back to ancient China where Mulan is to have her big day with the village Matchmaker (Jocyln Pennell). Mulan's Father Fa Zhou (Jaylen Cymbaluk) along with her Mother (Abigail Fagerland) and Grandmother (Kaia Lane Korwin) pray for a happy outcome to no avail. And when her father is called off to the army once more by orders of the Emperor (CJ Miller) Mulan steals her father's helmet and sword and runs away dressed as a boy to take his place in the army. The ancestors have no choice but to send the misfit dragon Mushu to stop Mulan, who will be killed if she is discovered. As Shan-Yu (William Gergen) leader of the Huns along with Magyar and ShurTu (Giles Askim and Emily Marquardt) plan to attack China; Mushu and Captain Shang (Hunter Marquardt) and his henchmen (Aaron Sikes, Ivan Askim) teach the new recruits (Christian Berger, Zack Peterson, Davis Patton) and Mulan how to be soldiers. From there, battles, an avalanche and Chinese celebrations are held before peace finally returns to the Fa family. Appearing in the full-scale musical as the Mothers & Daughters, and Dressmakers are Emma Solberg, Emily Marquardt, Tru Miller, Adrienne Urbatsch, Madison Fagerland, Clara Henson, Jasmine Lutes, Melissa Sikes, Libby Swensrud, Cassidy Hoggarth, Brooklyn Haug, Kayleigh Ann Granrud, Kearyn Woodward, and Charlize Hamilton. Playing the roles of the Little Chinese Maidens will be Rachael Morenski, Katelyn Ragsdale, Ivy Jeanotte, Katarina Canerdy, Solveig Lovgren, Kearyn Woodard and Emma Solberg.
