SECOND INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON ANCIENT GREEK DRAMA DELPHI 16 – 30 JULY 2017 The National Theatre of Greece, in collaboration with the European Cultural Centre of Delphi, organizes the Second International Workshop on Ancient Greek Drama from 16 to 30 July 2017 in Delphi, in the premises of the European Cultural Centre. The workshop aims to offer the students special knowledge and training on ancient Greek drama in venues related with it since its birth. Delphi offer a unique experience. It is an amazing natural landscape and an incomparable archaeological site of timeless pilgrimage. Delphi and the theatrical function revealed by ancient drama are precious supply for young artists. The workshop will be directed by the acclaimed director Michail Marmarinos and will co‐
direct it the German set and costume designer Andrea Schmidt‐Futterer and the Russian theoretician Dmitry Trubotchkin. Masterclass will be realized by the Artistic Director of the National Theatre of Greece, Stathis Livathinos. The subject of the workshop is: CHORUS: Matter and Notion As applied in daily life and in ancient Greek drama. (Theory and Practice in an approach to the concept of Chorus under the following axes: Chorus and Space, Chorus and Daily Life, Chorus and Ancient Greek Drama / Euripides HERCULES FURENS) The workshop is addressed to young actors, directors, set and costume designers, choreographers – in a few words theatre practitioners who want to focus and deepen their study on ancient Greek drama. It is an intensive program that includes physical and mental exercise, study, theory and practice. Participants will stay in the premises of the European Centre of Delphi. (https://www.eccd.gr/en/) The result of the workshop will be presented as a work in progress. Workshop languages: Greek – English (English is required also for Greek participants). There will be also translation to Chinese.
