Greek God/goddess poster project
Due Date: April 17, 2017
Quiz Grade
Objective: To make an informative and colorful poster illustrating
one of the main Greek gods or goddesses.
Directions: Students will research his or her assigned god/goddess.
Then, create a poster to be presented in front of the class.
Option 1
Make an informative poster.
Option 2
Make a “Wanted” poster. (easier
if you have a god/goddess who
did bad things.)
Requirements: Each poster should include the following:





The name of the Greek god, clearly shown. AKA (Roman Name)
His or her relationship to Zeus (if any).
An image of the god/goddess properly attired for a classroom
presentation, and equipped with objects often associated with the gods in
general, or that particular god/goddess.
Other images associated with the assigned god/goddess, such as symbols.
A neat and brief summary of the god/goddesses story/myth, written in
student’s own words. For option #2, this should be done in a story format,
using the myth as a guide.
 Use of color.
Presentation: Students should provide the teacher with a notecard or outline to
be turned in with poster. Students may use it during his/her presentation, and it
should contain the same information on the poster, but in more detail.
Grading
Projects will be graded with the following weight:




Content: 50% (information is accurate and complete)
Creativity: 30% (including neatness and use of color)
Presentation: 15% (including clarity of speech, and readiness.)
Works Cited: 5% (listed on back of poster, 2 sources needed, MLA
format)
Rubric for Content Portion of Wanted Poster/Poster:
40-50




Content provides enough description and is accurate.
Very few writing convention errors.
Titles, description and picture are neatly written, placed and cut.
Color and creativity make the poster attractive and interesting.
30-40




Content mostly provides enough description and is mostly accurate.
A few writing convention errors.
Titles, description and picture are mostly neatly written, placed and cut.
Color and creativity mostly make the poster attractive and interesting.
20-30




Content somewhat provides enough description and is somewhat accurate.
Some writing convention errors.
Titles, description and picture are somewhat neatly written, placed and cut.

other words, where does the god spend his time in the myths?)
5.) He or she is the god or goddess of…?
6.) This god is famous for…?
7.) Relatives? (parents, siblings, what god or gods did he or she marry, love, or desire…?)
8.) Does this god have a weapon?
9.) What are his/her "favorites"?
10.) What other identifying characteristics or interesting facts have you discovered about your
god? (the more facts the better!)
You will need a large sheet of paper to make your WANTED POSTER. Remember to include all
of the information for EACH god that is featured on the poster. On your WANTED POSTER you
may list the information you collected on your Graphic Organizers under each god, or present it in
any way that looks attractive.
