• The Sahara- The world’s largest desert 3.5 million square miles and
covers most of North Africa
• Almost %50 of the land in this region is made up of desert.
• Rub’ al Khali has the largest area of sand in the region.
Steppe Climate
• Steppe is the second largest climate zone in the region
• Rain averages less than 14 inches a year
• Raising and herding livestock is a way of life in this region
