that stretches from Ethiopia to Mozambique, located in East
Africa.
Desertification - a process by which land becomes increasingly
dry until almost no vegetation grows on it, making it a desert
Sahel - A semiarid region of north-central Africa south of the
Sahara Desert. Since the 1960s it has been afflicted by
prolonged periods of extensive drought.

Berlin Conference - 1884–85 was a meeting between European
nations to create rules on how to peacefully divide Africa among
them for colonization
