NBSAP objectives • • • • • Address the underlying causes of biodiversity loss by mainstreaming biodiversity across government and society Reduce the direct pressures on biodiversity and promote the sustainable use of biological resources Improve the status of biodiversity by safeguarding ecosystems, species and genetic diversity Enhance the benefits to all from biodiversity and ecosystem services Enhance implementation of NBSAP2 through participatory planning, knowledge management and capacity building Key priorities for NBSAP2 • • • • • • • • • Mainstreaming Biodiversity Improving Communication of BiodiversityRelated Issues Addressing Critical Threats to Biodiversity Contributing to National Development Objectives Strengthening the Policy-Making Framework for Biodiversity Management Generating Reliable Baseline Information Capitalizing on Synergies with the Rio and other Biodiversity-Related Conventions Enhancing Regional cooperation Mainstreaming Gender consideration Who and how the NBSAP2 will be implemented All of the activities prioritized in NBSAP2 are to be implemented by institutions repre¬sented on the NBSAP2 steering committee, which should facilitate the process of coordination and monitoring and evaluation.
