WasAristotleCorrectthattheEarth
isthe“Heaviest”ObjectintheUniverse?
Alongtimeago,AristotleproposedthattheEarthwasnotonlythecenteroftheuniverse,butthat
becauseitwastheheaviestobject,allotherobjectsgravitatedtowardit.
Similarly,moderngeocentrists,usingaNewtonianperspective,holdthattheEarthisthecenterof
massoftheuniverseandthepivotpointaroundwhichtheuniverserotatesdaily.
Buttheremaybemoretothisthanmeetstheeye.
Quantum mechanics offers us another window into how the universe may be operating with its
ownweightsandmeasures,andwefindthattheyareoddlysimilartoAristotle’sproposalthatthe
Earthistheheaviestbodyintheuniverse.
Forexample,inmybook, GalileoWasWrong,IshowhowthiscanbeconceivedusingtheCompton
anddeBrogliewavelengths.1
The Compton wave is the quantum mechanical property of an object that is stationary.2 The

TheComptonwavelength λ isequalto h/mc,where hisPlanck’sconstant, mistherestmassof

ThedeBrogliewavelengthforthesamebaseballmovingat30meters/secondis1.58 10–34meters.
In comparing the electron to the baseball, we see that the bigger the object the smaller the
wavelength.

IfwethensolvetheComptonequationfortheeffectivemassoftheuniverse,wehave:
 m h/λc
 m 2.5 10–66gramsfortheeffectivemassoftheuniverse
IfwethensolvetheComptonequationfortheeffectivemassoftheEarth,wehave:
 m 3.86 10–46gramsfortheeffectivemassoftheEarth
Hence, as measured by quantum wavelength, the tiny Earth is twenty 20 orders of magnitude
greaterinmassthantheuniverse i.e.,10 grams 10 grams .
This difference is quite remarkable since the universe, as estimated by current cosmology, has a
diameterof93billionlight‐years.
Buteveniftheuniversewereonlyonemillionlightyearsindiameter,itseffectivemasswouldbe
2.32 10–59 grams, and thus thirteen 13 orders of magnitude lighter than the Earth. This is
analogoustocomparinga1poundballtoa10trillionpoundball.Whichiseasiertomove?
Obviously, the universe is much easier to move than the Earth. In fact, since the Earth’s effective
mass is so exorbitantly greater than the universe, it would be absolutely impossible to move the
Earth out of its place, which coincides with the geocentrist’s fundamental truth that the Earth is
fixedinspaceandistheabsolutepointofreference.
Moreover,anymovementorvibrationontheEarth,suchasanearthquake,wouldbeabsorbedby

ApplyingthedeBroglieWavelength
If we now apply the deBroglie wavelength the equation for moving objects to the distance
between the sun and the Earth, a fascinating piece of information is revealed. The deBroglie
equationis:
 λ h/mv
where hisPlanck’sconstant, misthemassoftheobjectand vistheobject’svelocity.Sinceeither


m h/λv

m 1.47 10–46gramsfortheeffectivemassofthesunorbitingtheEarthinthegeocentric
system.
Notice that the deBroglie number “1.47 10–46 grams” is very close to 3.86 10–46 grams, the
effectivemassofafixedEarthfoundfromtheComptonequation.Thecoincidenceofthesenumbers
meansseveralimportantthings.
First, since the effective masses of the sun and Earth are almost identical, it means the sun and
Earth are perfectly balanced, and consequently, the sun can travel effortlessly around the fixed
Earth. NB:TheresidualeffectivemassbetweenthesunandEarth 3.86 v.1.47 maybeduetothe
