The solution to a system of equations is the intersection point (POI) of two lines when
graphed. Meaning it is a coordinate (x,y). When solved using methods 2 or 3, the
solution will satisfy both equations.
Method 1 Graphing y=mx+b
1. Find the point of intersection of each linear system. Check your answers.

b) y = 2x + 2
y = x + 3
y = 3x +1

Method 2 Substitution
3. Use the substitution method to solve each linear system. Steps: ISOLATE, SUB,
SOLVE, SUB.

Method 3 Elimination
4. Use the elimination method to solve each linear system.

$30 per month. A second internet company charges a $100 installation fee plus $25
