Lesson Generalization: The suffixes able and ance are more commonly
added to complete words than to roots. The suffix able means "able to be" and
is used to form adjectives. The suffix ance is added to verbs to form nouns.
The suffixes ible, ence, and ent are more commonly added to roots than to
complete words. The suffix ible means "able to be" and is used to form adjectives.
The suffix ence is a noun ending. The suffix ent can form adjectives in which the
suffix means "having," "showing," or "being in the state or condition of."
