Mythology Test, Study Sheet
The following should remind you of the different myths for which you will be responsible. Page numbers
indicate the start page for these assignments. If you have lost your packets, the book often has the same
stories with mostly the same details. It has an index as well as a table of contents that you might use to
review.
You may use your archetypal cards on the test. You may also use my cardstock info., which covers the
Olympians, the Titans, and a few minor characters. Students will take their test in class in small groups (or
individually if anyone prefers); there might be a take-home essay as well. Students may have index cards of
hand-written notes. They may not, however, copy and paste info. from the computer or use handouts or
books on the test. Groups will be composed of a maximum of 4 people. Students without note cards may not
join groups where students have note cards (and archetypal cards alone are not enough to join a group with
Greek cards). A min. of 5-7 decent note cards is enough to join a group who has done note cards.
For the test, students will be asked to sign an honesty declaration affirming that they have honestly taken the
test according to the guidelines. This would include only using the materials allowed and also not speaking
with other students who have already taken the test about the test.

For the Olympians, know symbols, animals, cities, and spouses (at least the important
ones). Know the main events, births and deaths, side characters (such as spouses or parents),
villains, and objects involved with the different heroes (such as Hercules having to gain the girdle of
Hippolyta [Amazon queen’s], cleaning out the Aegean stables, wearing the lion’s fur after slaying
him, killing the hydra, etc.).
Archetypes
Be able to apply them to the different Greek myths (such as “call to action,” “threshold guardians,” mentors,
large obstacle, boons, etc.). You might also use hero types or the white packet (such as “descent to the
underworld,” “damsel in distress,” “into the belly of the beast,” etc.).

Think of questions that were asked on quizzes; they could come up again. There will be quite a few extra
credit questions, so that should help you if the test proves difficult. It is a lot of information; therefore, I
suggest reviewing the material and spending some decent time on it. There will be a lot of questions, so
the better you know the material, the faster you’ll be able to tackle the questions, and the more successful
you will be. Finishing the test on time has been an issue for some groups because they don’t know their
material well enough. Questions will include multiple choice, true/false, matching, short answer, fill-in-theblank, etc. The majority of the questions are fill-in-the-blank. There is also an essay, which will likely be
take-home and optional. There are approx. 180-200 questions on the test, and the test will be worth 200-250
points. If people study hard, come prepared with cards, and work together, they usually do well. Here are a
few practice questions (which likely won’t be on the test, but might be, and they also should provide a sense
of the type of questions I’ll ask).
