1.The Thirteen colonies.

 The Thirteen colonies were British colonies in North America.
The Thirteen colonies were divided in north, middle and
southern colonies.
 The North colonies constituted New England, of which the
capital was Boston.
 The Middle colonies were occupied by people from different
nationalities (Scandivanian, German…)
 In the Southern colonies, most of the population was of African
origin (slaves working in the plantations).
 Each colony had its own system of government.

2.The Seven Years’ War
and the Treaty of Paris.

 The Seven Years' War (1756-1763) that confronted the European
powers (France, U.K., and Spain) , emptied the coffers of the
British Crown .
 After the Treaty of Paris, Britain obtained the French colonies in
North America (Canada, the half of French Louisiana…).
☛ Treaty of Paris: also known as the Peace of Paris and the Treaty
of 1763, it was signed on February 10th, 1763 by the kingdoms
of Great Britain, France and Spain, after Britain ‘s victory at the
end of the Seven Years’ War.
The signing of the treaty marked the beginning of an era of
British dominance outside Europe.

1763’s Royal Proclamation

 The Proclamation’s goal was to establish and organize the
British colonial empire in this region. The Proclamation forbade
residents of the Thirteen Colonies to settle and buy land west of
the Appalachian Mountains. The Royal Proclamation of 1763
raised the discontent of the American settlers that were already
established in the Indian Territory . They had to give up their
land and return to the Thirteen Colonies . Those who did not
cooperate were forcibly evicted by the soldiers, which increased
the hatred between settlers and British authorities.

4.American
Revolutionary War

 On July 4, 1776, the continental congress (a convention of
delegates from the 13 colonies) declares the United States
independence. George Washington became the American
commander.
 France entered the war in 1778 as an ally of the United States.
Britain try to attempted American demands by offering the
complete colonial self-governement, but after years of war, the
Congress only want the independence. The French and
Americans armies captured the British army at Yorktown in
1781, ending the American Revolutionary War. In 1783, London
must recognize the United States Independence and sign the
“Peace of Paris”, four treaties that officially ended the American
Revolutionary War
