Determine whether a statement is Law of Detachment or Syllogism, along with making valid conclusions using both laws. Objective: SWBAT identify algebraic properties using reason. SWBAT use reason to determine whether a statement is written using Law of Detachment or Law of Syllogism. TEKS: 2.5 Algebraic Proofs G.5.B: The student uses constructions to validate conjectures about geometric figures. G.4.C: The student uses the process skills with deductive reasoning to understand geometric relationships. G.4: The student uses a variety of representations to describe geometric relationships and solve problems. G.5.A: The student uses constructions to validate conjectures about geometric figures. 2.3 Law of Detachment/Syllogism G.4.A: The student uses the process skills with deductive reasoning to understand geometric relationships. G.3.D: The student applies logical reasoning to justify and prove mathematical statements. G.3.E: The student applies logical reasoning to justify and prove mathematical statements.
