ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL
CALOREX DELTA SYSTEM
Designed to provide years of pool pleasure
The Calorex Delta is a range of fresh air dehumidification and ventilation systems with
dynamic heat pump heat recovery to swimming pool water and air. These systems are
specifically designed to economically provide the environmental comfort and moisture related
structural protection necessary for a pool. They are the ultimate environmental control system
with a range of sizes to suit pools of every size.
Why Calorex?
Calorex is a leading British manufacturer of swimming pool
heat pumps and dehumidifiers. With nearly 40 years of
design expertise, Calorex is renowned for its innovation,
range and quality of products with an expert sales and
services team dedicated to meeting our customer’s
requirements. Our presence is international with thousands
of Calorex units operating in over 60 countries worldwide.
exchangers which are connected to hot water from an external
heat source such as a Calorex heat pump or boiler. All necessary
controls to accurately maintain stable temperatures are fitted
as standard within the Delta. This ensures easy installation
with a central user friendly control panel that will automatically
interrelate to pool hall air, water and humidity needs. Each
size of machine is available with a choice of heat exchangers
(LPHW) for the air, which are designed to match the flow
temperatures of differing heat sources.
Fresh air heat recovery/summer cooling
What does it do?
The Delta range, connected to a suitably sized external
heat source such as a Calorex heat pump or boiler, will
provide the complete solution to humidity, water/air
temperature control and fresh air demands.
Humidity control
In contrast to most buildings, indoor swimming pools
constantly evaporate large volumes of moisture into the
space around them. Unless this moisture is removed,
humidity will rise creating an uncomfortable environment
and structural/fabric damage. Totally self controlling, the
Delta will remove this moisture and recover energy from it
which is then re-used to assist water and air heating. By
utilising this method, a heat cycle is created and energy
costs are kept to a minimum.
Typically, for every unit of power that a Calorex heat
pump consumes, it will convert three times this amount to
usable heat. The potential energy savings are huge. In fact,
compared to traditional heat and ventilation methods, cost
savings of over 50% are achievable while corresponding
CO2 emissions can be dramatically reduced by up to 70%.
Pool water and air heating
A majority of the heating needs are provided by heat
recovery from the dehumidification process. Heat losses
that cannot be recovered are provided for by inbuilt heat
The Delta range is provided with automatically adjusting
fresh/exhaust air. This alleviates potential build up of airborne
chemicals, provides a greater degree of air temperature control
during warm weather and allows a slight negative pressure to
be created within the pool hall which will prevent migration of
pool hall air to adjacent rooms. During cold weather, energy will
be recovered from exhausted air to reheat the fresh air supply.
During warm weather, with models 4 to 16, this process will
automatically change to remove excess recovered heat to the
exhaust airflow and in conjuction with the free cooling from
fresh air offers a net cooling effect.
PLC control with 5.7" touch screen display
PLC control provides a more flexible approach to system
management that allows various functions of the unit to be
controlled more closely. The unit can be controlled and adjusted
on site to:
—
Match fan speeds precisely to ductwork resistance
—
Automatically vary exhaust fan speeds to match building
load requirements
— Provide remote connectivity through an appropriate internet
connection
—
Provide more comprehensive system interrogation
—
Provide more attractive, comprehensive and simple to use
customer controls
—
Offer more features as standard that were previously
optional extras
—
Data log the units performance and create service records
that are stored electronically within the machine
Remote monitoring/control
All Delta units are supplied with an Ethernet connection
that can be connected to an internet hub (not supplied).
This will allow the user to:
—
Read actual conditions on site
—
Remotely interrogate the unit for faults
—
Adjust set points, set back periods and fan speeds

The new Delta range features industry leading high
efficiency fans as standard, which are adjustable on
site and provide more available external static pressure
capability than was previously available.
DELTA models 4
and above provide
an air conditioning
facility to minimise
the effects of solar
gain from larger
glazed areas or
very high usage.
Automatic damper
and mode control.
The new fans and are approximately 20% more efficient
than standard AC fans and, due to the ability to adjust and
control fan speed based upon demand through the PLC
controller, overall system efficiency will improve by up to
40%.
