Alison is the Communications Director of WLPGA. Efforts to promote and expand LPG access are ongoing in countries across the globe, as one of many important solutions for clean, efficient cooking. The World LPG Association (WLPGA) has been a leader in these efforts through their work with the Cooking for Life campaign, among several other initiatives. Join this webinar to hear results from global and regional campaigns, as well as specific examples of national-level LPG efforts in: India – through the Indian Oil Corporation’s Smokeless Villages initiative, and Haiti - through SWITCH SA’s work developing financial models to improve LPG affordability for low-income households. Mr. Michael Kelly Michael joined WLPGA in 2006 as Director of Market Development. With extensive international experience in environmental policy, public affairs and communications, Michael has focused on the interface between business, governments and civil society. He was previously policy manager for the Environment & Energy policy portfolio at the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris where he coordinated business delegations to UN negotiations on environment, energy, climate change and sustainable development. He was made WLPGA Deputy Managing Director in 2010. Ms. Kalinda Magloire Kalinda is a governance and development management specialist with over ten years’ experience managing governance and institutional capacity building projects in Haiti and abroad. She is CEO of SWITCH SA, a social enterprise determined to massively convert Haitian households from charcoal to LPG. In addition to manufacturing LPG cookstoves, SWITCH has developed different financial models allowing low-income households to switch to cleaner energy. A main focus of SWITCH is to empower women who are at the forefront of the battle for cleaner cooking energy. Ms. Renuka Shukla Renuka is the Deputy Manager (LPG-Sales) for the Indian Oil Corporation, successfully implementing various organization and government-driven customer-oriented LPG schemes and initiatives like PAHAL, Ujjawala Yojna phone. With full enthusiasm and passion, she has undertaken the task of making villages smokeless by ensuring 100% penetration of LPG. Mr. David Tyler David has worked in the LPG industry for over 35 years and now works as an LPG consultant to major organisations including the WLPGA and European Bank. He has deep experience of the global downstream LPG industry, from primary storage facilities through to the consumer. He has run LPG businesses in Asia and has consulted in every region of the world but he focuses on Africa and Asia where most potential lies for LPG. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) and Winrock International have been engaged in the household energy field for many years, including through coordination of the Partnership for Clean Indoor Air (PCIA) and its 590 Partners working in 117 countries from 2002-2012. Since the integration of PCIA and the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves in 2012, Winrock and the U.S. EPA have continued working to increase the exchange of technical information among public and private organizations working in the global household energy and health sectors through local capacity building, targeted technical assistance and field studies and global knowledge sharing. The goal of these activities is to promote effective approaches that lead to increased use of clean, reliable, affordable, efficient, and safe home cooking and heating practices.
