The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) and Winrock International have been engaged in the household energy field for many years, including
through coordination of the Partnership for Clean Indoor Air (PCIA) and its 590 Partners working in 117 countries from 2002-2012. Since the integration of
PCIA and the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves in 2012, Winrock and the U.S. EPA have continued working to increase the exchange of technical
information among public and private organizations working in the global household energy and health sectors through local capacity building, targeted
technical assistance and field studies and global knowledge sharing. The goal of these activities is to promote effective approaches that lead to increased
use of clean, reliable, affordable, efficient, and safe home cooking and heating practices.
