Be able to describe the characteristic climate and
organisms of the terrestrial biomes.
Environmental Science:
Terrestrial Biomes
Be able to explain the 3 factors that are used to
identify a terrestrial biome.
Chapter 2 section 4
Biome
Definition: A group of land ecosystems with similar
climates and organisms.
Rain forest
Temperate:
North west coast of US

Moderate temperatures
Huge trees grow here
Tropical:
Near equator
Lots of rain
Hot all year
Many species of plants and animals
Desert

Many mammals and birds
Wide variety of birds and mammals
Mount Carmel is located here
Tundra
Cold and dry biome
No more precipitation than a desert
Moss, grass, and small shrubs
