Course Overview:
Have you ever wondered what the
hieroglyphics might say? Or what is hidden
in a pyramid? By following The Core
Knowledge Scope and Sequence for 1st
graders, we will craft as we learn! Look for
fun projects that showcase our knowledge.
Since this class is
multi-age, I will
do my best to
tailor the
activities and skill
levels to the
needs of the
students enrolled.



Temples were called ziggurats
Mesopotamians invented Cuneiform writing
Hammurabi created the first written laws; these were to help the people be good
People believed in many gods

An important river is the Nile
Located in the Sahara Desert
A king was called Pharaoh
King Tut was the famous boy Pharaoh
King Hatshepsut was the famous woman Pharaoh
A mummy is a body that was wrapped before being buried
Egyptian written symbols are called hieroglyphs
A pyramid was a tomb built for the Pharaohs
The Great Spinx of Giza has the head of a pharaoh and the body of a lion
