ABOUT MARTINIQUE
420,000 inhabitants. Fort-de-France is the
administrative capital of the island. French
and Creole are the most common languages,
while English is spoken in tourist areas.

Geography
Situated approximately 2,000 miles and 5 hours’
flight time from the USA, Martinique is located
in the heart of the lesser Antilles island chain. It
boasts a wide variety of scenery: the mountains
and rain forests in the north contrasted with the
endless white-sand beaches in the south.
The famous Mount Pelee, an imposing 1,397 meter
tall volcano, is the highest peak on the island.
Climate
Soothed by trade winds, Martinique enjoys a pleasant
year-round temperature of 78.8°F that’s why it’s
known as the island of “eternal summer”.
European credit cards are accepted. ATMs can
also be found all over the island. Interac debit
cards can be used in the local ATMs.
Entry Formalities: ID card or passport. For citizens
of countries other than European Union Member
States, it is necessary to carry a passport valid for
six months after your return date, and a visa may
be required in some cases.
Health Formalities: no vaccinations are required.

for non-European Union citizens.

The CRUQ also makes recommendations to the
hospital on measures to improve the care and
support given to patients and their families. In

Private rooms with a private shower and television
with national and international satellite channels
are available in the clinic.
Private rooms are assigned based on availability
and for an additional charge. The amount of this
ch arge is posted at the reception desk. Some
mutual insurance companies cover all or part of this
additional charge.
At times, dependent upon the rate of discharges,
the private room requested may not be available at
the time of admission. The hospital staff will try to
remedy this as quickly as possible.
Depending on the circumstances and subject to
conditions, if you wish to be accompanied by a
spouse or friend, that person can stay with you in
the same room for a minimal fee.
Hospitalization in a semi-private room: for reasons
of confidentiality, out of respect for privacy and
safety, it is not possible to provide an extra bed in
the case of adult inpatients. An exception is allowed
for the parent of a child under 15 years of age.
Lodging is also available in Fort-de-France or
Schoelcher and near the hospital.
Rooms are very affordable with great availability.
To improve our communication with
patients, a list of experts fluent in different foreign languages is available.
