OVERVIEW OF NITRIC ACID MANUFACTURING
The process:
Nitric acid is manufactured from nitrogen in air. The
chemical reaction is:
N2 + H2  NH3
NH3 + O2  NO
NO + H2 O  HNO3
The GasmetTM solution:

FCX-2 (NO, NO2 )
FCX-3 (NO, NO2 , H2 O )
FCX-8 (NO, NO2 , H2 O , N2 O , CO2 , CO, NH3 )
Sample cell: Single pass 1 - 10 cm
Use:
Nitric Acid is used as an intermediate for fertilizers
(main
use)
explosives,
dyestuff,
pesticide,
pharmaceuticals, photographic materials, plastics,
pigments, synthetic fibers, etc.
Measuring ranges:
High volume - percent
Typically for NO 0 - 20 Vol-% and for NO2 0 - 5 Vol-%
Measurement need:
The process control for ammonia oxidization at nitric
acid manufacturing plants.
