CONFIGURABLE 2-WIRE 4-20 mA TRANSMITTER Head mounting CM-40 DESCRIPTION CM-40 is a configurable 2-wire temperature transmitter for mounting on the connection head of a temperature probe. Built using SMD technology, the input and ranges can be configured by "straps" (solder link). Ready to connect to J and K, TC or RTD sensors giving an output according to the specified sensor range. Configurable on J or K TC and RTD (Pt 100) ● CONFIGURABLE INPUT AND RANGE ● ONE TYPE FOR MOST FREQUENTLY USED KINDS OF SENSORS REDUCES INVENTORY ● 4-20 mA OUTPUT, TWO-WIRE CONNECTION ● ELIMINATES THE NEED FOR COMPENSATION OR EXTENSION LINES ● ECONOMIZES SPACE AND WIRING ● HIGH SECURITY TRANSMISSION LINE ● CAN BE MOUNTED ON PROBE HEADS SUCH AS DIN B, DIN A, BBK, DA, DAN, ETC., 1.3" (33 mm) ● CE CERTIFIED (EMC DIRECTIVE) (CM-40../PS) FEATURES The CM-40 is a new transmitter fully configurable with both TC and RTD sensors and ranges via a simple solder link inside. Can even be recalibrated in the field without special difficulty. Fine Zero and Span adjustments using internal precision trimmers. The CM-40 converts a low level signal from a TC or RTD Pt 100 sensor into a 4-20 mA process signal without power supply in the field. It can be mounted easily with security barriers (classified areas) because it uses only two wires for power and transmission. In TC mode compensates the Cold Junction automatically from 32 to 122°F (0 to 50°C). TC units are non linearized output. Other thermocouple inputs are available (u.r.). In RTD mode 3-wire connection, the output is fully linearized. Provides a sensor break detector. The output will go to over 20 mA when the sensor or wires break. Its compactness and hole fixations allow it to be mounted on any type of probe head, from 1.3" (33 mm) to 1.9" (49 mm) raster. Eliminates the use of compensation lines allowed the use of two-conductor copper wire, and minimizes the effects of electrical noises in long lines. All PCB and terminals are dust and moisture protected by a plastic housing. Upon request the electronic components can be completely sealed in a coat of rugged epoxy. We can provide the CM-40 for hazardous areas with CENELEC approval for EEx ia II C, T4, T5, T6, to use in intrinsically safe circuits.
