Weed Control and Fertilization Program
A beautiful healthy lawn is important for several reasons.
•
•
•
Monetary value. It is difficult to place a dollar value on grass, but generally, Lawn and Landscape account for 2 to 5
percent of the value of your house.
Pleasure. Spending time outside is greatly enhanced when your surroundings are beautiful. Scientific studies have
shown the benefits a well cared for lawn can give in terms of relaxation and enjoyment.
Environmental. Grass helps the environment with air purification, heat reduction, noise control, erosion prevention,
supports wildlife and is a natural filter.
Some of the important components of lawn care are watering, mowing, fertilizing, weed control and disease prevention. Most
people understand the importance of watering and mowing but leave the other components to chance. The right type of
fertilizer must be applied at the right time to ensure a healthy lawn. Too much fertilizer causes turf growth to accelerate,
potentially causing weak turf, increasing its susceptibility to disease and producing excess clippings. Too little fertilizer and
nutrients are exhausted, resulting in poor color and weak turf. It is important that application is made before visible signs of
nutrient depletion occur. With proper application of fertilizer and pre and post emergent herbicides, the chance of turf disease is
significantly reduced.

Pre-Emergent (Deter Winter Weeds)
1.
Weed control is achieved through three applications of pre or post-emergent herbicides. The first application is
applied in February or March while the grass is still dormant. This application is to keep weeds from germinating. The
second application is applied 6-8 weeks after the first and is both fertilizer and post-emergent. In October, the final
pre-emergent is applied to keep winter weeds from germinating.
2.
Fertilization starts in April and continues through August. Grassy type weeds will be treated, if necessary, with these
applications.
3.
Treatments for Nutgrass, Wild Onion, tuberous type weeds, etc. are available for an additional charge.
4.
Free broadleaf weed re-treats for any customer receiving five treatments per year. Customers are encouraged to call
the Lawn Tech offices as soon as they notice new growth of weeds.
5.
Applications will renew yearly unless either party is notified at least 7 days before treatment. No scheduling hassle.
We automatically reschedule to keep you on the program unless you notify us of any changes.
Lawn Aeration
Soil compaction is one of the major inhibiting factors in root uptake of water and nutrients. We offer Core Aeration as a solution
to this problem.
Insect and Ant Treatments
Take advantage of the new environmental low impact Insecticides on the market. Two to three applications per year greatly
reduces pest insect populations in you yard and next to the house.
Deep Root Feeding
Put the nutrients where the plant needs it most. Soil injection and soil drenches apply slow release fertilizers where you need
them most. Perfect for Large Plants and Trees that may be inhibited by proximity to the house, road or sidewalk.
Diagnosis and Treatment of Disease, Insect and/or Fungus Damage
Questions about the health of your lawn or landscape? Let our experienced technician advise you on any problems you may
have. No service charge to existing customers.
