Glen Sameshima, DDS, PhD
Dr. Sameshima is currently the Program Chair
and Clinic Director of USC’s orthodontic
program. He received his Bachelor’s Degree
from UCLA; DDS from University of California,
San Francisco; and his Orthodontics
Certificate and PhD of Craniofacial Biology from USC. Dr.
Sameshima is active in organized orthodontics with
numerous publications, international presentations, and
twenty years of teaching experience. He is also a Diplomate
of the American Board of Orthodontics and has a part-time
practice in Torrance, California. He also serves as an
Associate Editor of the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics.
Ellen Grady, BA
Ms. Grady is Clinical Assistant Professor at
USC in the Advanced Orthodontic Program.
She serves as the Clinic Manager for the
orthodontic teaching clinic. For 20 years, she
has taught the orthodontic residents practice
management and marketing as she has been a dental
management consultant for many years with her own
company. She is well known for what it takes to have a
successful well-run orthodontic practice and has helped
clients throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.
In addition to teaching at USC, Ellen continues her
consulting, and lectures nationally and internationally.
Robert Relle, DDS
Dr. Relle received his DDS from Indiana
University School of Dentistry, and specialty
training in oral and maxillofacial surgery from
Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He was a fulltime staff surgeon at Kaiser Hospital, Los
Angeles Medical Center before entering into private
practice in Century City, where his practice is limited to
orthognathic surgery. He was an examiner for the
American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is
currently a Lecturer at UCLA School of Dentistry and cochairs the Dentofacial Conference in the graduate
orthodontic program at USC. He has published and
lectured nationally on various topics in the field of
orthognathic surgery.
Peter M. Sinclair, DDS
Dr. Sinclair was born and raised in London,
England, attended the University of London
and received his orthodontic training at the
University of Washington in Seattle. He
taught at Baylor College of Dentistry, Dallas,
and the University of North Carolina before becoming
Chairman of the USC Orthodontic Department in 1993. He
held this position until 2004 and continues to teach at
USC while in private practice in Torrance CA. Dr Sinclair
is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, has
published over 70 articles, and has had a long term
interest in retention and stability issues. He is also an
Associate Editor of the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics.
Dan Grauer, DDS, PhD
(Course Director)
Dr. Grauer received his DDS and Orthodontic
Certificate in Barcelona, Spain; and his DDS,
MS, Orthodontic Certificate, and PhD from the
University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He is
Assistant Professor and serves as co-chair of the
Dentofacial Conference at USC, and is also an assistant
professor. Dr. Grauer is a recognized expert in 3D imaging,
lingual orthodontics, and interdisciplinary care. He is a
Diplomate and Examiner of the American Board of
Orthodontics. Dr. Grauer shares his knowledge through a
multitude of publications and international presentations;
He has a part-time private practice limited to orthodontics
in Santa Monica, California.
Synopsis
The USC Mini-Residency in Orthodontics is
designed to provide orthodontists with a full
update on the use of technology to enhance
clinical practice and management. Participants
will learn current state of the art concepts and
techniques of diagnosis, treatment planning and
execution of various orthodontic systems. The USC
experience will allow attendees to incorporate into
their practices the latest advances in orthodontics
and orthognathic surgery, facial diagnosis,
communication and scientific. Evidence behind
treatment and appliance choices will be
thoroughly discussed. We look forward to meeting
you in person in Los Angeles.
Topics to be covered:
• Use of three-dimensional technology in orthodontics
and orthognathic surgery.
• Facially-based diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Multi-perspective orthodontics.
• Contemporary and evidence-based approach to use of
skeletal anchorage.
• Customization of lingual and labial orthodontic
appliances.
