Review the following terms from study guides 1 and 2:
dermatology
rhinoplasty
Dermatology is made up of the combining form dermat/o, which means skin,
and the suffix –logy, which means study of.
Therefore, dermatology means the study of the skin.
Rhinoplasty is made up of the combining form rhin/o, which means nose,
and the suffix -plasty, which means surgical fixation or reshaping.
Therefore, rhinoplasty means to surgically reshape the nose.
Study the following combining forms and suffixes. Then, put them together to form new words that describe
inflammation, indicated by the suffix –itis, and tumors or masses, indicated by the suffix – oma.
