2.
A butterfly is an insect
with four wings. A
butterfly has six legs
and three parts to its
body.
4.
Butterflies fly during
the day. Some
butterflies have bright
colors on their wings.
6.
Some butterflies live
for only a few days. A
few kinds of
butterflies can live up
to five years.
Butterflies in warm
places live the longest.
8.
There are many
different kinds of
butterflies. Butterflies
live all over the world.
10.
Butterflies live where
there are trees and
plants and flowers.
Some people plant
butterfly gardens so
butterflies will visit
them.
12.
A Butterfly life has
four parts. First a
butterfly lays many
eggs. Next, a Larva or
caterpillar will hatch
from an egg.
14.
Soon the caterpillar
will turn into a pupa
or chrysalis, which is a
hard sack. Inside this
hard pupa, the
caterpillar will change
into a butterfly.
16.
When a butterfly
comes out of the pupa,
its wings are wet. It
will hang upside down
until its wings are dry.
Then it will fly away
to find a flower.
18.
Butterflies fly from
one flower to another
flower. They drink the
nectar, or sweet liquid
in flowers.
20.
Butterflies are pretty
to watch and are
helpful too. Butterflies
carry pollen from one
flower to another
flower. Pollen helps
flowers make seeds
that become new
plants.
