Commercial Glossary
CUSTOMER INFORMATION
CHARGE DETAILS
Account Number – Your unique identification number
Service Period – First date and last date of the billing period
Service Location – Location where electric service is provided
Customer Rate and Delivery Class- Your service classification and delivery
and usage is measured
Phone Number – Primary phone number provided by you
Issue Date – Date your bill was created
BILL SUMMARY
Previous Balance – Amount owed on previous bill
Total Payments– Current payments received since the last bill was
issued
Amount Due – Service Period Total + Miscellaneous = Total amount
to pay
Due Date – Date the payment is due to ComEd
METER INFORMATION
Read Dates – First date and last date of billing period
Meter Number – Your unique meter identification number
Load Type – Type of meter service rendered

ELECTRICITY SUPPLY SERVICES – IF PROVIDED BY ComEd
Electricity Supply Charge – Charge for electricity provided during
the billing period
Transmission Services Charge – Charge to recover costs associated with
ComEd’s transmission system
Purchased Electricity Adj. – A charge or credit to true-up the revenue from
customers to the expense incurred by ComEd to procure electricity it
supplies to customers
ELECTRICITY SUPPLY SERVICES – IF PROVIDED BY RETAIL SUPPLIER
Electric Energy Charge – Charge for electricity provided by your
electric energy supplier, typically including transmission services
Supplier Name, Website and Phone Number – Contact information for
your electricity supplier
DELIVERY SERVICES
Kilowatt (kW) – Unit of measure of the rate at which electricity
Customer Charge – A monthly charge to recover the costs associated
with billing, collection, credit and customer assistance activities
Reading Type - Kilowatt-hour (kWh) – Standard measure
Standard Metering Charge – A monthly charge to recover the costs
associated with the meter, meter reading and other metering
services

of electricity usage
METER READING:
Previous – Meter reading from first date of billing period
Present – Meter reading from last date of billing period
TYPE OF METER READING – Actual or Estimated
• Actual – Actual usage data from the premise’s meter reading
taken by ComEd
• Estimated – Estimated usage data based on your historical
usage patterns
• Kilowatt-hour (kWh) – Standard measure of electricity usage
Multiplier X – A factor applied to usage readings for certain
kinds of meters to accurately determine usage
Usage – The difference between previous and present meter
readings times any applicable multiplier (measured in kWhs
and/or kW)
TAXES AND OTHER
Environmental Cost Recovery Adj. – A charge or credit related
Distribution Facilities Charge – A charge to recover the costs associated
with ComEd’s distribution system
IL Electricity Distribution Charge – A charge to recover the cost of the
Illinois Electricity Distribution Tax
Meter Lease – A charge for any optional non-standard meter-related
equipment
Non-Standard Facilities Rental – A charge to recover the cost to provide,
operate and maintain non-standard equipment or services
MISCELLANEOUS
Account-specific transaction charges and credits such as
late payment, deposit, deferred payment agreement,
budget billing
Budget Billing – Fixed monthly bill amount (for Budget Billing
participants only)
Net Metering Credits – Account specific kilowatt-hour or monetarybased credits for the excess generated electricity that flows back to
the grid from eligible renewable generation
to the recovery of certain environmental cleanup costs
Energy Efficiency Programs – A charge to fund the portfolio of energy
efficiency incentives mandated by law
ADDITIONAL BILL INFORMATION
Franchise Cost – A fee to recover costs related to the franchise
of your monthly usage over the past 13 monthly billing periods,
displaying kWh usage by month
agreement if any between ComEd and your municipality
State/Municipal Tax – A state or local tax imposed upon the electricity
used by customers
Total Usage Profile-13-Month Usage (Total kWhs) – Graphical view
Electric Usage – Monthly kWh usage over the last 13 monthly
billing periods
