Hydrologist Technical Services Division Competition Number: WSA-27-2016/17 Location: Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan Our hydrology team provides the physical assessment and knowledge of Saskatchewan’s water resources that fundamentally inform all aspects of water management. We are in search of enthusiastic hydrologists to join a team of like professionals. As part of that team you’ll provide advice and technical support to a broad base of internal and external clients. You will analyze information collected from around the province to inform infrastructure design and operations, water policy and programs, plan for droughts, help with forecasting and operations and respond to floods. Our hydrology work is used in all scales of infrastructure projects, from deciding the size of culverts required in a road, to major bridge and dam construction and rehabilitation. Hydrologists also prepare reservoir operating plans to meet the desired mix of water supply, recreation, power protection and flood protection benefits. You may also interpret hydraulic models as a part of drainage and infrastructure projects, provide peak water levels for development, or complete water supply studies to understand overall availability in support of sustainable allocation of water for industrial, municipal and agriculture projects. You will work among a diverse and passionate team of professionals from fields including engineering, water quality, ecology, law, sociology, and public policy to name a few, that are leading this exciting challenge in our province. The successful candidate must be eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS), typically possessing a Degree in Civil, Agricultural, or Environmental Systems Engineering, or in a related geoscience discipline. A minimum of ten years of related experience is required at the Senior Hydrologist level. Candidates with less experience will be considered for a Hydrologist or Hydrologist-in-Training position.
