Hydrologist
Technical Services Division
Competition Number: WSA-27-2016/17
Location: Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan
Our hydrology team provides the physical assessment and
knowledge of Saskatchewan’s water resources that fundamentally
inform all aspects of water management. We are in search of
enthusiastic hydrologists to join a team of like professionals. As
part of that team you’ll provide advice and technical support to a
broad base of internal and external clients. You will analyze
information collected from around the province to inform
infrastructure design and operations, water policy and programs,
plan for droughts, help with forecasting and operations and
respond to floods.
Our hydrology work is used in all scales of infrastructure projects,
from deciding the size of culverts required in a road, to major bridge
and dam construction and rehabilitation. Hydrologists also prepare
reservoir operating plans to meet the desired mix of water supply,
recreation, power protection and flood protection benefits. You
may also interpret hydraulic models as a part of drainage and
infrastructure projects, provide peak water levels for development,
or complete water supply studies to understand overall availability
in support of sustainable allocation of water for industrial,
municipal and agriculture projects.
You will work among a diverse and passionate team of
professionals from fields including engineering, water quality,
ecology, law, sociology, and public policy to name a few, that are
leading this exciting challenge in our province.
The successful candidate must be eligible for registration with the
Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of
Saskatchewan (APEGS), typically possessing a Degree in Civil,
Agricultural, or Environmental Systems Engineering, or in a related
geoscience discipline. A minimum of ten years of related
experience is required at the Senior Hydrologist level. Candidates
with less experience will be considered for a Hydrologist or
Hydrologist-in-Training position.
