Kimberly Wyn Schlesinger, M.D. HEMATOLOGY & ONCOLOGY SPECIALIST ABOUT DR. SCHLESINGER As a board certified oncologist and hematologist, Dr. Schlesinger not only offers her exceptional expertise to every patient under her care, she also understands the importance of balancing the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of her patients. Her professional motto is a testament to her multi-faceted level of care: “A lot of things in medicine may change but at the very core, it is really all about relationships. The relationship between the doctor and patient is just one aspect of the patient’s life, which is a collection of relationships with other people they love. In caring for a patient, the other relationships in the patient’s life are able to continue to grow and develop. It is through those other relationships that real healing takes place.” Dr. Schlesinger joined HOAF in 2014, after holding several prestigious positions, including eight years as director of the Breast Cancer Program of the Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia. Throughout her career, she has written on various topics, and many of her articles have been published in such esteemed publications as the American Journal of Cancer. She is passionate about new therapeutic options for the treatment of cancer and has been a part of several cancer research studies. Dr. Schlesinger’s dedication and compassion for her patients has earned her the prominent “Top Docs” award from Northern Virginia Magazine and Hampton Roads Magazine. Dr. Schlesinger earned her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed her fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center School of Medicine. She is a dedicated member of The Medial Society of Virginia and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Schlesinger has also proudly served on the following committees: Medical Oncology Representative; Chair, RRMC Breast Cancer Center Ad Hoc Committee; American Society of Hematology State of the Art Symposium, and the Craven Regional Medical Center Cancer Committee.
