Hillon Unit 7: Ancient Greece Unit Title: Ancient Greece, c. 800 – 300 BC/BCE Brief Overview of the Unit This unit leads students to analyze the geographic, political, economic, social, and religious structures of the civilizations of Ancient Greece. This unit is seventh because that is where it falls in the Tennessee standards. Literacy Standard CCSS. ELA.W.6.1 Write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence. I selected this standard because many of the social studies standards require the students to compare and contrast. One specifically says to compare and contrast the life in Athens and Sparta. The students would compare and contrast the life in Athens and Sparta and then write an argument supporting which city they would want to live in Related Overarching Enduring Understandings and Essential Questions The ancient civilizations influence the way of life in modern day civilizations. o In what ways do modern day civilizations learn from the ways of the ancient civilizations?
