Sine and Cosine Law In-Class Assignment
You need to find a picture with three or more oblique triangles in them (hint –
search triangles in nature). You may use more than one picture, if necessary.
1. For your first triangle:
a. Label the triangle A, B, C.
b. Measure angles A and B with a protractor and label.
c. Measure side a with a ruler and label.
d. Use Sine Law to solve for the unknown measurements.
2. For your second triangle:
a. Label the triangle P, Q, R.
b. Measure angle Q with a protractor and label.
c. Measure sides p and r with a ruler and label.
d. Use Cosine Law to solve for the unknown measurements.
3. For your third triangle:
a. Label the triangle D, E, F.
b. With a protractor:
i. Measure one angle, OR
ii. Measure two angles, and label.
c. With a ruler:
i. Measure two sides, OR
ii. Measure one side, and label.
d. Use Sine Law or Cosine Law to solve for the unknown measurements.
e. Provide an explanation for how you chose which law to use for each
unknown calculation.
