PECTORAL GIRDLE
Start with cat prone.
The TRAPEZIUS is a very thin muscle, so be careful. Make an incision on the midline and lift it up.
1
See how thin it is?
Deep to the trapezius is the SUPRASPINATUS.
You can feel the SCAPULAR SPINE going this way at an angle,
2
same as a human when the arm is rotated.
The INFRASPINATUS is next.
Need a volunteer with gloves to hold the paws together.
3
Reflect the trapezius back by cutting the origin.
Here is the RHOMOIDEUS, in the same location as a human,
from the vertebra to the scapula.
This is the SUBSCAPULARIS. Clean it up more.
Next, flip the cat supine.
4
Here is PECTORALIS MAJOR. This muscle coming into it is LATISSIMUS DORSI. Separate out these two muscles.
5
(LD)
Here’s pectoralis major again, and deep to it is PECTORALIS MINOR.
Sometimes its fibers blend together. Again, here’s latissimus dorsi.
Using your fingers, open it up more.
Pectoralis Major runs in the direction of my right fingers,
and Pectoralis minor runs the other way, like my left hand.
6
Here’s the scapula from the other side.
This is TERES MAJOR, and here’s SUBSCAPULARIS.
This muscle here is SERRATUS ANTERIOR.
The insertion is here….
The origin is here.
The DELTOID you don’t even have to dissect, because it’s right here.
