Quantum Science for Energy Healers: A Practical Guide Presentation Notes: Week 1 Notes to self ‐‐‐add in definitions of volts, gauss etc Slide 1 Intro comments A “bookkeeping” Roll Call‐‐‐email me confirm of listening to the talk Q&A from time to time but primary discuss will be on Facebook and I will give you more details at the end of the presentation Website has all the links and upcoming worksheets and answer keys will be posted as we move through the course. B. Overview Course goals bridge what we know energetically with current scienctific models in order to help develop a constructive dialog between HT and other bio‐field therapies with modern/western medicine (allopathic?) My intention is to empower each and every one of you with the confidence and understanding of basic scientific paragdigms, theories etc along with their implications , applications and limitations….Your questions, suggestions, input and guidance are all welcome as we collaborate synergistically .over the next five weeks. As a lifetime fan of “Star Trek” and “Star Wars” I see myself as “captain” of our Healing Touch Discovery Ship! All learning involving conceptual change must be built upon a solid foundation therefore, it is important that we spend our first week or so reviewing and consolidating our basic understanding of matter and its organization before we expand upon and extend our discussions to issues on the leading edge which scientists are grappling with even now. C, Opening Meditation: set group Hara, evoke AAM, AAR, AAGab, Raziel, Zadkiel, to help us all release all blocks, fears and boundaries regarding our abilities to and to support us as we evolve in our learning as we evolve so that we can build an energetic field , integrating and supporting science and energy medicine for all healing for all time. Slide 2 Where we are right now‐‐‐the present scientific paradigm This diagram Represents a modern medical view of life wherein DNA is destiny Person at top with “broken heart”—manifestation of our current society—still top causes of death Clockwise to ECG irregularities Traced to “defective gene” ID on specific sequence of DNA molecule “Repaired” gene is manufactured and produced by lab animals Serum containing correct genetic material is injected into human to repair inherited defects. “DNA is destiny” Diagram also indicates that we have EM fields, composed of highly organized atoms and molecules which contain genetic codes and that these codes can be changed. You may recall that every in classic Mendelian genetics, every trait has at least 2 pieces of genetic material, one from each parent, and that the expression of these traits is determined by principles of dominance and recession. However, we are now finding that many traits are more of a collaborative effort between several genes which suggests that expressed traits may be determined by more than one factor and instead have a holistic rather than causal or linear manner of manifestation which is a much more appropriate fit with our quantum view of the world and the idea of intentionality ‐‐‐‐these ideas I plan to consolidate and clarify for you in the weeks to come! Doesn’t show /explain how the heart was broken in the first place, the issues which resulted in that gene to manifest, the complexity with which our DNA is turned on or off, how DNA results in complex cells which know how to move and where to go to form organs, organ systems and ultimately organisms which think create, talk, dream, and pray. Slide 3 Sine the dawn of time, alchemists, mystics, philosophers, scientists, and everyday people have sought to understand and explain who we are and how the universe works. And to find meaning for their lives. This quote sets the stage for Wk 1 as it is about the early investigations into the forces which underlie our material world and how understanding their unique characteristics, as well as, their checks and balances this inevitably leads to a more intimate, holistic understanding of ourselves and our universe. Slide 4 I have divided each week’s presentation into 6 sections which overlap and build in a cumulative manner each week. If you miss a session it is strongly recommended that you listen to the recording in order to make sure you are not “lost” in the next session. Although I will most certainly endeavour through email and facebook etc to fill in any gaps etc. This week , we will be focusing on basic concrete topics which have led up to the quantum model and lay the ground work for the more sophisticated topics such as holograms, quantum tunneling and string theory which we will be evolving towards in the upcoming weeks. This week’s session will address the following topics What is?,,,electricity, matter, magnetism, induction, electromagnetic energy and the idea of what is a quanta Remember that each topic is not isolated but inter‐related to one another and has important applications to the work we do as HT practitioners so please set your intention that “science “ has an important role to play with respect to our ability to understanding and communicating about energy mediciine Slide 5 What is Electricity? I have chosen to begin with a brief historical look at the early discoveries which have led to our present use and understanding of electricity. Although there are some antiquities which indicate even earlier civilizations had the technology to produce electrical charges this talk will begin with the simple discovery that rubbing amber with wool created a static charge that would pick up hair and lint. While rubbing silk on ebony would create a different kind of charge which caused the hair and lint to drop off! Franklin’s famous kite experiment provided evidence that there was a parallel between friction generated charges such as the rubbing of amber with wool and moving air masses and that when these charges built up enough potential they could move jump! Slide 6 A simple modern method of generating static charge is by rubbing balloons on one’s hair. As all kids at birthday parties know this permits the balloon to stick on the wall for a while. Tesla was a famous physicist who experimented and developed many applications of electricity and electrical engineering still in use today. The Tesla Coil is a very dramatic example of a man‐made static charge generator. He was well known for his entertaining parties wherein he demonstrated his latest inventions. It is also a little known fact that he studied and experimented with the human aura and was privy to other metaphysical insights which have been largely inaccessible or lost. The exciting aspect of the Tesla coil was it’s ability to simulate the static discharge we see in nature as lightning. Slide 7 the electrical discharges we associate with lightning. Although primitive man was most certainly aware of the effects of lightning with regard to starting fires and the deadly effect of being struck by lightning It is now understood to be a transfer of a massive static electrical charge. So what kind of clues does this give us with respect to understanding the nature of matter?? Basically it told scientists that there was some kind of electrical component in matter that could be removed easily from some substances. It was initially proposed by Democritus that matter was composed of indivisible units‐‐‐called atoms. But this idea was later rejected by Aristotle and his theories of basic alchemical units of matter as ‐‐‐‐earth , air, wind and fire persisted for many centuries‐‐‐we will also come back to these ideas in week 5! In the late 1700’s Dalton revisited Democritus idea and the “atom” as the fundamental building block of matter was revisited. However, Dalton’s idea that each of these basic units was different for each pure substance—like different colored billard balls—did not explain phenonema such as static charges Slide 8 The next piece of insight came from Volta. Also working in the 1800’s , he discovered that when 2 different metals were placed in an alternating pile and separated by discs of paper soaked in salt water an electric current was generated. The bigger the pile the stronger the “shock” as he tested this with his fingers. This was the first battery which eventually evolved into the “ever‐ready energizers” and “copper tops” of today. His work let to the development of something we call the activity series today which is basically a ranking of which metals pull electrons from which other metals. Generally the more expensive the metal the more likely it is to pull electrons from other metals and hence resist corrosion. Hence platinum pulls electrons from gold which pulls from iron etc The most important application of this work was that “something” was transferable on the outside of the atom and this something generated electrical charges. Slide 9 Through the work of many other scientists, a “classical” model of the atom was developed. This model placed the “negatively” charged electron outside the nucleus or core of the atom as it was postulated that this was the easily removed item. Thomson and others developed the technology to identify the existence of both positive (protons) and negative (electrons) particles within the atom. This diagram shows a typical “textbook” view of the atom which helps explain many facets of chemical reactions and behavior hence it is a frequently used but oversimplified model of matter and can be misleading when one tries to apply this model of matter to energy medicine. Slide 10 Periodic Table is a wonderful organizer. 1st developed by the Russian Mendeleev Patterns include: metal/non metal Number of protons in the nucleus Pull on electrons Slide 11 Metals and their properties Slide 12 Metallic conduction—because of the nature of metals—i.e. “sea of electrons” chemists believe the electron flow past the nuclei like a current of water around the rocks in a stream. Due to the nature of metals, most electrical wires are composed of metals—usually copper (compromise between its conductivity and cost)—gold is used in computers because it’s a better conductor. Electric current is measured in terms of Amperes, which is the amount of electrons travelling through the substance, the push is called the Volts and the Resistance is measured in ohms Slide 13 Series and parallel circuits Parallels to human body motor nerves =series Brain=parallel Slide 14 Moving electrons produce magnetic fields, this slide shows a cross section of two wires carrying electric charges in two different directions and the consequent lines of magnetic force which are measured in Gauss . The earth’s magnetic field is about ½ gauss, a strong electromagnet would be 1 gauss. Slide 15 Non‐metals, covalent bonding Slide 16 water, capacity to store energy “springy mickey mouse ears” put your hands in the air! DR. ATP is needed to maintain this electrical potential “holy ATP” also biochemical adaptations‐‐‐mutability of biochemical pathways Slide 22 Diagram of energy conversions Energy ‐‐‐What is it really??? As healers we know it is in seemingly infinite universal supply. Slide 23 Intro to magnetism lodestone=magnetite iron oxide (Fe3O4) occurring magnets, pyrrotite Slide 24 Lines of force, concept of a force field, Persistant magnetic fields are produced by iron containing materials –this is called ferromagnetism, other magnetic elements are Ni and Co and some of the rare earth elements All materials are influenced by varying degrees by magnetic fields substance attracted to magnetic field==paramagnetism, some repelled by it diamagnetism, and others non‐magnetic e.g. copper, aluminum, magnesium, gases and plastics although the magnetic state varies with temperature and hence physical state as well. Slide 25 Alignment model of magnetic materials, magnetic properties of substances depend upon the arrangement of the electrons (configuration) mention Oxygen’s paramagnetic prop earth’s geomagnetic field‐‐‐iron core, plus huge amounts of magnetite in most volcanic and metamorphic rocks. Palomagnetic reversals at rift zone in mid‐Atlantic ridge Magnetite is sometimes found in large quantities in beach sand. Such black sands (mineral sands or iron sands In 2005 an exploration company, Cardero Resources, discovered a vast deposit of magnetite‐bearing sand dunes in Peru. The dune field covers 250 square kilometers (100 sq mi), with the highest dune at over 2,000 meters (6,560 ft) above the desert floor. The sand contains 10% magnetite.[and is obviously a large source of magnetic energy on the surface of the earth. Slide 26 Crystals of magnetite have been found in some bacteria (e.g., Magnetospirillum magnetotacticum) and in the brains of bees, of termites, fish, some birds (e.g., the pigeon) and humans.[6] These crystals are thought to be involved in magnetoreception, the ability to sense the polarity or the inclination of the Earth's magnetic field, and to be involved in navigation. Also, chitons have teeth made of magnetite on their radula making them unique among animals. This means they have an exceptionally abrasive tongue with which to scrape food from rocks Hemoglobin’s structural formula……clue to body’s magnetic field and apparent polarity, relate this magnetic passes technique Some esoteric info to indicate that other metals such as gold and platinum in our bodies contribute to our biological and metaphysical wellness this may very well be due to the subtle electrical and magnetic potentials they produce in the biochemical field of our bodies. Magnetic field of the heart, ***MEG‐studies of the brain’s magnetic field‐‐‐magneticencephalogram ***wiki website to further understand this work and provide a possible link between their work and HT Slide 27 Oersted, discovered in the early 1800’s that an electric current could influence a compass needle and opened the door to discoveries in the inter‐relationships between electricity and magnetism. Maxwell eventually integrated this work and the work on optics (light) to form the field of electromagnetism. wherein any moving charged particle has a magnetic moment Hence, magnetism appears to have 2 sources,‐‐‐moving electric charges And/ or intrinsic spin magnetic moments of charged particles. Which is are important aspects of NMR imaging (nuclear magnetic moments) and MRI ( magnetic resonance imaging) SOOOOO …..Moving electrical currents can generate magnetic fields, and moving magnetic fields can generate electricity. Slide 28 Polar auroas, centered at magnetic pole the strength of the field at the Earth's surface ranges from less than (0.3 gauss) in an area including most of South America and South Africa to over (0.6 gauss) around the magnetic poles in northern Canada and south of Australia, and in part of Siberia. We are going to spend a few minutes talking about the earth as it is one object whose magnetic field is fairly well understood….largely because it is measureable and believe we can use these models to help understand more fully the aura and magnetic fields of living organisms. The field is similar to that of a bar magnet. The Earth's magnetic field is mostly caused by electric currents in the liquid outer core. The Earth's core is hotter than 1043 K, the Curie point temperature above which the orientations of spins within iron become randomized. Such randomization causes the substance to lose its magnetization. Convection of molten iron within the outer liquid core, along with a Coriolis effect caused by the overall planetary rotation, tends to organize these "electric currents" in rolls aligned along the north‐south polar axis. When conducting fluid flows across an existing magnetic field, electric currents are induced, which in turn creates another magnetic field. When this magnetic field reinforces the original magnetic field, a dynamo is created that sustains itself. This is called the Dynamo Theory and it explains how the Earth's magnetic field is sustained. Slide 28 Another feature that distinguishes the Earth magnetically from a bar magnet is its magnetosphere. At large distances from the planet, this dominates the surface magnetic field. Electric currents induced in the ionosphere also generate magnetic fields. Such a field is always generated near where the atmosphere is closest to the Sun, causing daily alterations that can deflect surface magnetic fields by as much as one degree. Typical daily variations of field strength are about 25 nanoteslas (nT) (i.e. ~ 1:2,000), with variations over a few seconds of typically around 1 nT (i.e. ~ 1:50,000).[9] All magnetic fields are affected by other magnetic fields hence the earth’s by that of the sun, planets, and universe itself, hence our are affected by one another and the earth itselfe! I believe that the phenonmenum of electromagnetic induction is an important aspect of healers as in when we set our Hara and center our self an important sequey which we will delve into a bit more later is the effect of Centering results in brain wave activity(mystical theta) which is similar to earth freq but also the magnetic fields of the brain change when the EEG (electrical activity of the brain shifts as well!!!!***** Slide 29 Model of an induction coil…explain how it works Slide 30 Me and Ryan…HT techniques which utilize induction and induction coil Comparison of magnetic field effects in magnetic passes Slide 31 Diagram of magnetic passes Slide 32 Refraction of white light through a prism Slide 33 Planck’s equation Slide 34 Diagram and explanation of electromagnetic spectrum Slide 35 Definition of electromagnetic Slide 36 Diagram of an electromagnetic wave Slide 37 Bohr makes the connection between Planck’s discovery and spectral analysis of Hydrogen atom Slide 38 Correlation of light frequencies with electron energy levels Slide 39 Explored the nature of electricity as a transfer of charges, displaying the ability to generate magnetic fields, dovetailed this to the structure of matter and the organization of atoms and molecules on the atomic to biochemical levels, then examined nature of magnetism and its close relationship with electricity. Thus the ability of one to induce the other. Then explored the nature of the electromagnetic spectrum and the idea that energy is packaged. The implications for this packaged energy was then taken back to our understanding of the structure of the atom and that packaging of energy did not only occur in the frequencies of light but also in the storage of the energy possessed by the electron about the atom.
