MESOPOTAMIA UNIT OVERVIEW LEARNING GOALS 1) Describe in detail the factors (farming methods, domestication of animals, division of labor, and geographic features), that led people throughout Mesopotamia to develop civilization. 2) Describe in detail the five different traits that made Sumer the first civilization in Mesopotamia. The information needed for these questions will be analyzed and discussed in class. Use notes and PowerPoints to help you with your answers. All answers must be written in complete sentences with specific details. You may either re-write the question or re-state the question within your answers. Include information such as daily life, religion, military, farming, etc. Compare and contrast inventions from modern Mesopotamia with similar inventions of today’s world. Create a travel brochure for the city of Babylon. Research at least 10 of Hammurabi’s laws. Describe what his punishment would have been and research what the punishment would be for the same crime in the U.S today. An option of your choice, presented and approved by Mr. Collins. END OF UNIT ASSESSMENT The Mesopotamia unit test is scheduled to be on Thursday, October 1st. The test will be a combination of multiple choice, true/false, and short answer. Use the notes from class, informational PowerPoints, and the answers to your required comprehension questions as an ongoing study guide. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO ACCOMPLISH WHAT YOU’RE RESPONSIBLE FOR. Each night you should be seeing if you’re able to answer any of the comprehension questions.
